Re: (Episode 1 Release) Ashes Afterglow
I recently beat Episode 1 and holy moly i really love the new changes now it has. Tutorial level feels extra meatier than before and i love it. Weapon sprites look cool and Scavver sounds a lot different than usual! So that's really cool.

Never pinpoint a release down to the hour and expect people not to keep refreshing the page, Vostyok, my good man!

(Release 1.00) Ashes Afterglow TC
First build of Ashes Afterglow, version 1.00.
Please note the following: This is the first build. There will be bugs. There will be jank. Not everything I am happy with. But happy enough for now.
Neutral NPCs are still immortal. Don't start a fight you can't finish.
Includes:
3 2 new weapons!
18 maps!
Multiple endings!
8 new enemies and a ton of new characters.
A ton of new music.
Credits (wip, it's been two goddamn years):
And thank you all very much for all the love and support. I will be available for any major problems for the next few hours from time of this post.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/quhh5n2a ... 0.zip/file
Instructions: Run with gz/lzdoom , with Doom 2 as an iwad, on it's own. No other files required! Mod compatibility has not been tested yet!
Final note: Some of you may still find the motorcycle difficult to control. I'm working on a fix for this. Hopefully it's not too smooth at the moment.
Final final note: Tested in Dark sector mode, which may be too dark for your monitor. Check Sector Light mode is set to Doom or Vanilla if you find the light level is too low. Prologue offers a testing area for these purposes
Edit: Apologies for wait for this and huge file size. I wasn't happy with splitting our story, so decided to cram it together into a double episode. Thank me later.

Thank you for this, V. I'll certainly enjoy the beauty and madness of the apocalypse.
And then I'll probably do it all over again w/ Hideous Destructor.

Some journal text doesn't appear to align correctly, I assume this is because of my aspect ratio?

1. Yes we know about the revenant noises that one enemy still makes.
2. The bike is still a bit jank. Give it a chance, make slow gradual movements with your mouse and don't just hold W down.
3. If you're having performance issues switch to the Vulkan renderer.
Anyway, for the people who might not have seen it here's the trailer again:
Change "SOON" to "NOW" lol
Re: (Release 1.00) Ashes Afterglow TC
An issue I've had since playing the demo is the, to be frank, absurd amount of damage enemies do even on the easiest difficulty. Seems a little unbalanced to have hitscanners be able to peel your health down so very fast. It's odd because I felt like the first Ashes episode was perfectly balanced on every difficulty, but this just seems a little needlessly frustrating, even on the easiest setting. Incredible work so far, otherwise.

Respectfully disagree, I'm playing on arcade and I feel like this might be a you problem.Echelon5 wrote:An issue I've had since playing the demo is the, to be frank, absurd amount of damage enemies do even on the easiest difficulty. I know it's a bit soon, but has anyone found the yellow key in westside?

Change hud scaling. It's an option in hud menu. It's a weird one but until I switch fully to zscript it's something I'm not sure how to fix.calx wrote:Some journal text doesn't appear to align correctly, I assume this is because of my aspect ratio?Spoiler:
I've been considering making Relaxed mode a little easier than it is actually. Not only for those not used to this kind of game but also for those using mobile apps like DeltaTouch. I'll try to put this in the first update, which should hopefully be soon.Echelon5 wrote:An issue I've had since playing the demo is the, to be frank, absurd amount of damage enemies do even on the easiest difficulty. Also, none of the enemies use hitscans. Try staying mobile. I left your speed unchanged for this reason.
Mod is hub based. Think Hexen/New Wolfensteins. Except hopefully less obtuse. I'm sure you'll find it somewhere if you look around the city.TheRedCrow wrote:Echelon5 wrote: ...I know it's a bit soon, but has anyone found the yellow key in westside?
Re: (Release 1.00) Ashes Afterglow TC
Adjusting the scaling did the trick, thanks! I'm close to catching up to where the demo ended now.
