I've read other posts of people making maps with 4000+ sectors so I know it isn't the number of sectors thats the problem but this appears to be my limit.
I'm creating a map of a 4 level building. The different levels are connected by a number of interactive portals to make a floor above floor effect. The map is Doom 2 UDMF format in GZDoom Builder.
The problem I have is when I create sector #1825 (no matter where I create it) the map stops working in GZDoom. When I test the map on the 4th level all I can see is black and all the "Things" I have placed in the map. If I look up or down I see sky texture only. To make things even stranger, if I relocate the player 1 start position to any other level on the map it works fine, though I can see the entire fourth level is missing when I look through the portals. The automap doesn't show any of the fourth level sector but if I try to walk around I still walk into walls and can open doors.
Any ideas what could be happening?

Re: 1825 sectors limit
How big are your sectors? I've heard of problems stemming from huge sectors. If they are big, try splitting them into smaller sectors. Other than that I can't say.

Could you upload your map? It's kinda hard to say what's wrong without seeing it.
Re: 1825 sectors limit
Well, like usual. as soon as I post a question online I figure out the answer myself right after. I'm not sure why it works. The for levels of the building were spaced far apart so they wouldn't appear together on the automap. When I moved them closer together the problem was fixed. Not sure why this works or why it only happened when I created sector 1825 however. The sector was withing the level so it wasn't farther away from the other parts of the map. I know doom has a distance limit that all parts must be within but it seems that only goes into affect after 1825 sectors are created?

Hi. I noticed this glitch with skyboxes. When I created the skybox sector too far away from game sectors, it behaved really weird. Sometimes, the skybox was shown correctly. sometimes it disappeared and sometimes it dispalyed psychedelic effects.

Zdoom based ports has a maximum map of +/-32767 from the map origin (0,0), I believe. It used to be much-MUCH smaller on vanilla Doom.
