I'm working on one. It's beyond what anyone would expect.
Great :D, I'll add you to the list.
So far when I play it, if I add in clinical ambient music... I have to stop playing it. For me, it sends too many chills down my spine. Don't know how I'm going to finish making the map. It's actually taking a toll on my health sort of. When you go to bed thinking of all the great ideas you want to put into the wad, they manifest into your life and make you worry about everything. Sleeping is a bitch, when I stopped making this map it took a few days to not have a nightlight on :)
None of this would be possible w/o ACS.
Is it that scary :woh: ? Can't wait to see it.
If I do complete this map (which I hope to, I sunk a lot of time into it), I have no completion date in mind.
Do you think you can complete it by Halloween (cause that sounds like a perfect deadline for a scary map contest ;) ), or if not that - then by the beginning of 2011?
1. When is the deadline? Should make it halloween in my opinion. Mine should be done by halloween... and there is good detail IMO too.

2. My map name is "Obsidian", uses 3D floors for those who are wondering, but can be completed in software

3. Judges should be playing it in the dark at night with sound and music. If not, it completely defeats the point because my wad and all the other scary wads like ghoul/TCOTD/Unloved are all not even scary when its shining daylight out.

I've played some games and maps where you start off with something laughably simple, then it escalates and does weird stuff until by the end of it the player is pretty much completely unhinged.

What I'd like to see someone do... is something that builds up from familiar to terrifying in such a way that is completely abstract. Sort of like some of the weirder Knytt Stories but in first person...

Yea, first just a group of imps... boring.
But by the map's end, the imps are half-invisible, twice as strong and fast, shoot rapid fireballs, run on ceilings and when you kill them their head jumps at you and chases you like a lost soul.

I don't know haven't really decided, I think I'll hold a vote or something...

Maybe send out a PM to the judges (and contestants, minus me ;)) asking for when they feel the maps should be done? Just a recommendation.
