This project will be stalled until I get some personal issues sorted out. Not sure how long it will take either. Don't worry I will finish this, it'll just be some time before I can get back to work. :)

Hi everyone! I'm sort of back. :) I tend to be a bit of a lurker anyhow but yeah, I'm alive! :D

Just saying that I am sort of wanting to get back onto this now. :D I'll start by [God willing] getting an animator. :)

I have [almost] decided to go back to the original scope in order to make this project achievable. What I am thinking is that it might be more of an idea to focus on getting a campaign finished and released and then focus on GSA afterwards, rather than just adding more and more stuff to the project so I have stuff to do. :P I'm not 100% but about 95%.

It kills me inside that your post implies that you or anyone else would have come up with the same exact idea, because killing Charmanders with MSPaint dongs is rather commonplace in the Doom community.

That being said, I would like to offer for the record that I believe the subject nature of this project is highly lolarious and the resources seem to be all cobbled together from several very different art styles (that is to say, nothing seems to mesh together well or maintain any level of consistency). One can couple this with very bland, empty screenshots of maps that just seem to be missing stuff (as if they are half-finished) leaving me - the viewer - with a certain lack of desire to play your mod (which, in summary, is of overall dubious quality).

tl;dr looks lame, not gonna play, sry

Try to remember that everything you have seen is temporary mainly because of the two standard reactions to anything I release are either criticism, or ignoring me. Does wonders for the morale. :P But yeah that's why the maps look pretty bad as I have had to do them myself (I know they are horrible). God willing an animator will spawn and then I can get something good looking ingame and then be able to try to get a demo out. Everybody who's played the current version has loved it completely; I understand what I need to do to get people to like the thing.

I've been giving this project some headspace today (for those who are not aware I am currently working on an Alpha Centauri mod primarily -- which is proceeding very smoothly but I thought that it would be nice to finish this project as it's always nice to finish what one starts). What I have decided is to try and push for a one-level demo. I've made the following todo list:
  1. Extend the first level by 100%, adding a Kay section.
  2. Make the greenery, textures and anything else needed for the map.
  3. Detail the map (slopes, cliffs, rocks, sector trees, actor trees).
  4. Replace any placeholder graphics that would appear in the map (health, ammo, enemies with the models, etc.).
  5. Get the music , sounds, title graphics.
Detailing an outdoor map is a new experience for me (I really have only detailed one indoor map before and that was only average) so if there is anything that people can suggest for me to look at I would appreciate it considerably. As far as I am aware, a forest can have trees made from sectors, and sprite based trees -- I was thinking a mix of these would be ideal.

Obviously the only step that I do not have control over is step 4 as that requires an animator. God willing one will come before I am ready; if not I may release the demo with my MSPaint sprites (which I have been told are pretty good anyhow) as a prototype to better sell the game to any prospect animators and/or mappers.

As for a timeframe for the above, I am not sure at the moment. I have to balance my time between my let's plays and Alpha Centauri, although there is not much more I can do for Alpha Centauri before I run out of things to do. Anyway, I hope you people like my attempt to do something you hey! Let's hope I can finish it this holiday break so you people can start having some fun. :) I've never done maps on a large scale before as I don't enjoy it but as I'm the only one ready and able to do the job it looks like it's down to me for now. :D

EDIT: Heh, I didn't finish a sentence. Ah well I removed it now. :D

To me, anatomically correct Charmanders sound like they should have anatomically correct death sequences.
