Apparently he go eat some stuff, then becomes a full Alien. At least that's how it was in AvP 2 (poor cat).RV-007 wrote: I don't know what happens to the Chestburster if it succeeds in killing its host.

Maybe he could eat away some health items and when his health reaches to a certain limit, he will morph into an cacoon/alien. This can be done by inheriting the DoomPlayer class. Especially useful for different player classes.

Except I think that only the Marine class was planned by Blade 3327. Something like that isn't probably going to be done in his mod.RV-007 wrote:Maybe he could eat away some health items and when his health reaches to a certain limit, he will morph into an cacoon/alien. Yeah... those Chestbursters won't be around long enough for you to actually see them become adults. They're either freshly-hatched or fully-grown. I haven't seen any game or movie that's ever shown what happens between the two lifecycle phases.RV-007 wrote:Maybe he could eat away some health items and when his health reaches to a certain limit, he will morph into an cacoon/alien. Gee I'm really late on this one, should have said something the moment Ive found it.
I've been waiting for something like this for a very long time.
What I want to say is this (and I'm not being a naysayer about it) I could only hope this mod survives long enough to at least have parts of it be released so someone else can pick it up and follow the original author's/modder's work.
Typically mods like these end up dead either because of the corporation that owns the intellectual properties start being assholes about it and send cease and desist letters. I mean what can you possibly do to get around this? Best bet is to secretly finish it somehow and defy them and release it really obscurely, completely under the radar somehow and try to remain anonymous.
I'm sure everybody remembers that case with the "Alien Quake" Mod by John Diamond right? Although it was still release and still circulating the internet so I don't know what was all that for, after all it was still "released" despite some people at "Fox" was being total assholes about it.
Other times it's because of either hardware faults, so I'm saying this to the author directly: always make sure you back up all of your resources for this mod just in case something goes wrong with your computer and the data becomes corrupted or lost, back it up often and in multiple locations where you can easily retrieve it with ease.
Other times it's due to real life issues, like school, work, health, etc.,... which the modder must deal with so it can cause a lot of down time with n updates and eventually it becomes like vaporware or become oblivious. the last statement is highly likely if the author/modder is working on a project like this entirely by themselves, although I give them lots of respect for it. It would be best if they had some local help like a friend or 2 they could trust and work on it together that way maybe there would be less downtime and more progress would be made.
Or something happened and then they decide to move on and never look back, in that case the project becomes dead and eventually somewhat forgotten other than being archived as some kind of internet memory.
Now that' out of the way what I want to say is I loved the new sprites for the Aliens and Predators when compared to the older early 90s version (AvP Doom Theme Patch, Theme 1.7 AvPvT Patch, etc.,..) all looked much much better and completely fresh. Those earlier versions were just poor edits of the Imp sprites IIRC. And there were no Unmasked Predator sprites for the early 90s patches.
Even the new sprite for the Alien Queen here does justice compare to the really ugly green giant Alien Queen in Justin Fisher's Aliens TC. But Fisher had to work with limitations at the time and did not want to update his patch, so this is something I hope to see get improved.
I do have to say one other thing. Try to avoid the original HUD versions sprites from the earlier 1990 era Alien and Predator Themed Doom patches and update them to more up to standard hi-res ones if possible.
Other than that try and reduce the number of original "Doom" sprites in the final release, although it's very difficult, but if there was almost no original "Doom" sprites left in the final release then it actually is a "Total" Conversion rather than a "Partial" Conversion. This was something almost all "Total" Conversions struggled with. With exceptions to Batman Doom II which if IIRC had pretty much all of the in-game original ID Software Doom sprites replaced with custom new sprites.

ATTN, Blade3327:
I found a wad that got a working (enemy) radar script. The script seems to rely on set player/monster actor class TIDs. I had not figured out the basic semantics yet (for both single and multiplayer), but it works. link
