There's also a wiki... Sure, it's not directly ZDoom-specific but it's still relevant...Cutmanmike wrote:Personally I think this sort of thing should be uploaded onto a site rather than stuck on a forum.

That's what i managed to make with Photoshop (i know, it's kinda crappy, especially the shading. >_>)

Re: New Spriting Tutorial - Weapon Basics Up! (P. 1)
@Cutmanmike: If you have the time to upload it to your site, i'd be aweseome.
@Morpheus: Your shadows and highlights look a bit too smooth for the shapes they're applied on.
I think i'll add a "How to shade section too", since this tutorial would be useless if I didn't show some cheap ways of shading. o_O

Which would be most appreciated, since I, myself, have major problems with shading.Eriance wrote:I think i'll add a "How to shade section too"

Until Eriance gets that ready, the original Monster Spriting tutorial done a year or so ago (by Eriance) actually teaches that very well.Ghastly_dragon wrote:Which would be most appreciated, since I, myself, have major problems with shading.Eriance wrote:I think i'll add a "How to shade section too"

I forgot to mention that you should use a grid that is 320x240 to align your weapon properly (use multiples of it if youre wepaons is meant for higher resoltuions - i.e. 640x480 for 2x resolution, and so forth). If you're using something that is shorter or tall than that, your vanishing point will move up or down, thus throwing off the weapon when you put it in game.

Well, since everybody's on the bandwagon.. But I feel that the "results" of this tutorial from others should probably separated as to not clutter up this thread.
Cute attempt at a Halo like weapon. I guess I was going for the Palsma pistol but I ended up doing the Needler. =D (Typo intended.
