Palette Hack Challenge!
Re: Palette Hack Challenge!
There were a lot of scenes with red blood.
BUT.
These are some scenes with white.

Oh yeah, Big Fat Kill and That Yellow Bastard had a lot of white blood too... been a while since I've seen it, should probably watch it again too.

Re: Palette Hack Challenge!
Strangely though Hard Goodbye had RED blood for everything... I never saw a scene during which white blood ever showed up. Must be a Marv thing.
Anyway I did a new version of the wad that has no color and white blood and less contrast... but it's still too dark. Oh well, I give up.

Re: Palette Hack Challenge!
Another odd thing... some characters in Sin City bleed both. Jackie Boy for example sprays red blood onto Little Mino's face, but the rest of the scene he has white blood. From then on the bottom of Jackie Boy's head is covered in red. rather than white. Hartigan bleeds white at the beginning of That Yellow Bastard, but then red throughout the second half until the very end where for the suicide it's again white.
It's a stylistic choice, but I like the idea of the bright white blood. It makes some sequences look so much better.
So here is what you do if you really wanted to make the noir style of Sin City... you actually make 2 128 color pallets, one monochrome one spectrum, and put them together. Then pick and choose which colors you want out of the set for your graphics whatever since more than likely you'll be using DECORATE to make the characters less stupid zombie and more thug. The important characters, like the player, could bleed red... Kevin, Marv, Hartigan, Jackie Boy once we find out he's important, Yellow Bastard bleeds yellow but he bleeds a color and I think that should count. Expendable characters bleed white. Or at least in the film characters they wanted us to think were expendable. Remember Yellow Bastard was cut in half in the original theatrical version, so Hartigan bleeding white was to make us think he was going to die and justice had been served. An old man dies and a little girl lives. Then we find out he lived therefore he's important and his blood turned red. There might be other scenes I'm again forgetting about. You use DECORATE to achieve all of that.
In the end, it'd have to all be custom graphics and a custom palette but I believe it would look like this... And I believe that would be perfect for anything you wanted to do Sin City style. Like I said, all custom graphics. 0-254 would be the palette and 255 would be the transparency for the graphics. This way YOU could pick and choose what YOU wanted to be contrast or not therefore avoiding the previous problem of "rooms too dark".

New Palette from the Bouncy!
Another simple one, but this one should ring a huge bell.
Matrix, anyone?

Bullet Time Mod Not Included. Yet... Assuming Xaser doesn't kill me for blatant ripoff.

Re: Palette Hack Challenge!
Here's another palette image for Spidey's tool, this one a little better than my last one in my opinion. Not so much greyscale, bright and dark colors, flesh tone, and a transparency color. In case, ya know, you wanna make a stand alone IWAD or something. Probably be great for some of that Sin City stuff we discussed as well.
EDIT: Added new version, realized previous version was redundant.

This is actually pretty awesome. It's...more "realistic" and subdued. I dunno.§-Morpheus-§ wrote:Discolored palette: it looks like a flashback image...
And also a Too Much Color Palette...

Re: Palette Hack Challenge!
Been having a lot of fun with these palettes. Thought I'd share this shot of snowy.wad plus Phocas Island 2.

Re: Palette Hack Challenge!
I'm lazy- can anyone make an underwater palette where the colors suit an underwater picture without much degradation?
Re: Palette Hack Challenge!
I'm lazy too. Can anyone make a palette where all the colors are slightly greyish?
