Romero's one-sentence summary of the wad is held in high regard while deathz0rs review is flayed and burned. What a world.

It quite shows the respect for the respective persons, doesn't it? Deathz0r has brought this upon himself with a continuous output of low and lowest quality reviews.

I'd also suggest that getting a thumbs up for your reinterpretation of a piece of work from the guy who made the original is always going to rank very highly, regardless of how long the comment was.

I bet if romero saw half the really good quality wads that are made today he'd give them praise. Not only that but if someone spent 3 years (I doubt he researched why it took that long) working on a tribute to something you had made you'd give it a nice compliment too, no matter how shit it was.

And Romero liked legacy, if his opinion on matters related to Doom was considered absolute you'd all be on forum.doomlegacy.org.

Point is Romero's compliment does not automatically make your wad the best thing ever or anything close to it. End of story.

What makes it even funnier is that Romero didn't even comment on KDiZD itself. He just said "whoa, cool intro."

I don't think either of them really classify as a "review", anyway. A review doesn't just consist of saying "I like it" or "I got to point X and quit." Remember that a movie critic is not allowed to walk out of a movie they are reviewing, no matter how much they hate it.

I personally think ReX has the best review so far.

I agree that Romero's comments can hardly be considered a review (I didn't say they were) but I reckon anyone who found out that one of the people behind Doom and the architect of Episode 1 had played their WAD (especially if it were an Ep1 based WAD) would be pretty chuffed. The fact that Romero thought that KDiZD was cool makes the comment even better.

Romero has a special place in the hierarchy of Doom (if there is such a thing) and Episode1 in particular is forever associated with him. Of course, Romero liking your WAD doesn't automatically make it a good wad (I didn't say that either). However, Romero noticing, playing, liking and then saying as much about your WAD is cool. Very cool in fact. Anyone who says otherwise is just wrong. :P

And yes, of the actual reviews I have seen, ReX's is the best - detailed, balanced, fair.

Regarding the deathz0r music thingy, I (and apparently most of the other team members) simply assumed it was created by the person who added it to the map. In hindsight we should probably have double checked, but it was added so long ago I personally forgot it was even there.

Eventhough credit is given when you pull the switch?
Also "E1M9 Original mix - Robert Prince" and "Back to normal" is somewhat redundant as you desided not to replace the original music.

Btw. I find the Kinkiness tracks fit quite well with the mood of Kdizd. They are longer, like the maps are, thus less repeativ. And they have many ambient parts in it which make the maps feel more scary than with the original tracks. I'm not asking to include them, though. It's just a suggestion to try for everyone tired of the original MIDI tracks.

Not quite, as I played with my own music choices, which made every different option actually different

The last time I activated that switch was probably over two years ago, and all it did at the time was play the D_E1M9 *ahem* "reinterpretation"; there was no text.

Feel free to make a video.

The authors are listed in the credits.txt that comes with the project, on the project's website, and in the credit sequence at the ending.

There are already plans for E2. Depending on its success, E3 and E4 may come afterward.
