I just dragged the WAD onto my GZDoom and it seems to work fine. Will that get me in trouble later?

Doom Marine aka Huy Pham wrote:The "skip map" levels are absolutely necessary, since different skies are required for the actual fleshed-out levels. "Skip Map" allows for sequential progression of secret levels and usage of sky textures from all three episodes (the hell levels would not be hell without a third episode sky). Most of the skip maps are only encountered in PrBoom, and when you play DVII sequentially (without IDCLEVing) from Map01 in ZDoom or GZDoom, many of the skip maps will not be encountered, since MAPINFO is smart enough to ignore the Skip Maps.

ATTENTION

Is there a WAD anywhere that has just the Egyptian textures featured in the Desert Temple map? They're excellent - and just what I need. :)

If I recall, most of what you're looking for can be found in the OSIRIS WAD from way back.

Been playing this lately using my WWHC-Diaz weapon mod. I know, there's already weapons in the wad, but the Diaz weapons makes this wad a lot more interesting...especially the giant hordes of zombies in the first couple of levels. Adds a lot of tension!

If you mean this one: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=6711

Then they're not. I'm talking about the brown, stone "brick" textures - they're in Doom Raider and Romero Death Skittles as well.

o_O finally got around to finishing this.

Excuse the potentially-childish all-caps-ness, but man, this is THE most EPIC wad ever, truly!

The end of Cathedral made my jaw drop (and subsequently fly off as I was blown to bits multiple times). Beat it, though, I did. ;P

"You Shall Not Pass!" is my favorite. Legolas ain't got NOTHING on how fast I was running away from those bloody things. XD

And Vendetta was bloody awesome because it actually pays to go balls-to-the-wall insane with a BFG. Oooh, slaughterfest. :P

So, I have officially beaten the entire wad on UV now. @_@ A workout, but *man*, fun as hell. I'm not lying when I say DVII has bumped and pushed its way to #1 on my favorite wad list. Hats off to Huy for the amazing work, and even more so to Mike, Belial, and AnimaZero for playing the doggone thing so much to make it so darn perfect. I say, anyway. :P

Hmm, question for Mike or Huy: To pass the "DVII Exam", does my demo have to be an any specific format? I'm sure I can UV Max it eventually with ZDoom but PRBoom's physics are very odd (wouldn't be a problem but I've got a lot of berserking to do which is easy as hell to pull off in ZD). Would a GZDoom demo (same version as packaged in the "Ultimate" edition) be acceptable at all or do I need to pull this off old-school? Either way, I'm determined... I'm no Belial but I'd like to crank out something insane to prove that I can at least attempt to stand up to the 'doom gods'. :P

This wad should be "required reading" for all Doom players wanting to improve their skills. Playing Deus Vult II will make your dooming skill better. Period.

PrBoom is always the most desirable format, as the demo file wont become useless with the next version unlike ZDoom or GZDoom.

Good luck if you try, Anima had a hell of a time making just one demo. I gave up after about 50 or so attempts (yeah I know, lame.)

i'm slowly making my way through this and it is very impressive. I'm more amused about the hellish version of the emerald city palace and the massive hordes of monsters lined up in a single hallway than anything else so far. And yet, i've just made it to the spacestation and am impressed by the massive amount of detail packed into a single map. All i have to say is Awesome work so far.

The Unholy Cathedral is HUGE, but awesome; it's one of my favourites maps, although I also like Stargate...

Well, actually, I have my problems with it. They're all music related though- First off, SPCs, not Ogg Vorbis rips. That inflated the wad by AT LEAST 6MB right there. The MIDI backups was a nice touch, but most of us have the SNESAPU.DLL and with the new update SPCs will work natively anyway. Secondly, Metal Works music without Shredder is a crying shame.
