Is it a community project like KDIZD is supposed to be?

No, but the ZDCMP1 was a so-called "community" project exclusive to those who made the cut at the beginning of the project
Yes, and the thread stayed active with updates and communication for everyone else to read. Mind you that some of those people whom had to just sit and read were ones whom worked on it in round one, also.

When they moved KDIZD from an open thread into a closed private forum, IMHO, it became more of a closed door team type of project made up of people from these forums.

It doesn't mean I like KDIZD any less, I just wish that the KDIZD forum were open, and outsiders could make more suggestions, etc. that may benefit the project without becoming directly involved with it. It would be more like the previous community projects where it was quite evident that people that whom weren't officially part of the project were able to make suggestions that were either added or seriously thought about.

Just a disclaimer here... Even though I might not have anything to add to the project ATM, (which I can't have anyway, not being able to see them talk about development) doesn't mean that someone else doesn't have something to add that the KDIZD team hasn't thought of. :)

BTW, Your Name Is, are you one of the moderators of the KDIZD forum? I keep on seeing your name in green.

 I've been found out....

Actually, remember that thread about Torm being moderator? I was joking when I said
I wanna be moderator of my own secret forum!
Which TUN already has. So, I logged on one day, and POOF! WTF mate?! My name is green?! WTF mate?! End of story and my SPAMming this thread with accidentally started flamewars.

I can tell you now that comments made by people who haven't directly worked on the project have affected KDIZD a hundred times more than they ever influenced ZDCMP1.

Sounds good. How have the comments been effected by the secret forum then? If they've been coming in at the same or better rate, I'll shut up. :)

Anyone who's interested in providing a multitude of useful comments and suggestions would/should volunteer to betatest the project, and thus have access to the forum ;). More general & vague comments can still go here (or at Doomworld, WIP, Newdoom, etc), just as they always have.

I should probably also point out that since the project is relatively near completion (and we already know what we've got left to do, we just need to do it), comments at this stage will have considerably less chance of having any effect on the project than they would have nearer the start. This would still be true even if the KDIZD forum were open to everyone.

But there can always be comments concerning what you guys are currently working on, also. No matter where you are in the development of the project. These comments do not have to be about adding on this 1337 feature or whatever, but it can also be about how to go about doing some task for completion that may just be a better approach.

Anyway there's another of my 2 cents down the drain. :)
