An open-world RPG mod for Strife. Larger world, more weapons, side-quests, a story that you actually influence besides that one dialogue with Macil, maybe experience points/levels, that kind of stuff.

That would make it even better! (However, i wouldn't like to make it a ketchup mod, even though i like them).
Vaecrius wrote:- because just lowering damage on things means you're just emptying buckets of ammo into every mook which is repetitive and un-fun.
I understand. Not only it would take good weapon scripts and effects, but it would take good mapping/playing skills and enemy positioning as well.

JEEZ.

All in all, i accept the challenge, you know. But, as said, i'm a zero on scripting.

Thanks for replying. :D

I'd love to remake Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels as an SP/Coop multiplayer mod for doom.

My knowledge of Doom modding is pretty limited though. I can pretty much create and animate sprites

Here's resources from the game, if that may help: http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f= ... 46#p723146

To be frank, the gameplay seems very boring, although that doesn't stop for someone to make it more interesting. And that bloody gore!

Thanks for the sprites

TBH, it depends on what missions you do. That one isn't too bad since you just have to position your men and check on them from time to time, but some of the harder missions are extremely difficult since you have to manage 1 or 2 squads with a limited amount of planning time and then also make sure you manage your firing so your weapons don't jam at the wrong time while trying to do certain objectives.

Mechanically it's pretty basic since there isn't much aiming but there's quite a bit of micromanaging involved and it's more about the difference between the slow moving space marines and fast aliens and the tension. One tiny misstep can get your whole squad killed (it's pretty much Aliens in videogame form) and there's no saving during missions.

In fact I'd say that that mission is probably one of the easiest ones in the game baring the training missions.

Oh, oh!
I've got yet another idea!

How about a [PROTOTYPE] mod? Y'know, with high jumps, stomps, claws, blades, whipfist, punches that can send cars flying, charged attacks, devastators, homing kicks...

I remember having lots of assets of most powers, though mostly for third person, with only 10 (actually 4, with 3 of 'em having two other variations with different shadings each) first person views.

These are some very crappy shadingless examples:

With props to Gifty, I think a Smooth Wolfenstein mod would be worth a shot. I've tweaked around with some of the sprites, and came up with this so far.

I don't know if ECWolf or other ports would support it, but I'm sure it can be implemented in Wolfendoom if we were so inclined.

I've wanted to do a Strife map for a while, but in my opinion you can't just create a Strife map like a Doom map. While I do like Doom maps that go above and beyond, you can put something together for Doom that plays well without getting too fancy and it'll be a good map. Strife, on the other hand, practically demands scripting, dialogue, hubs, and more. I need a clear concept of what I want to do and what I need to do it before I do it.

The current concept I have is a relatively short, story-driven mod with a handful of characters. Our as-of-yet unnamed protagonist has lost his sister to the Order, and must raid an Order facility to get her back. But simply running in would be suicide- he needs help to pull it off. There is a man willing to help- but he needs your help to deliver crucial information to the Front first. On the way, he will discover things about the Old World and the New World that nobody was supposed to know...

It is a bit AU- actually, it steals a lot of ideas I had for a Strife reboot I pondered a while back. It will also be the first Strife fanfic (probably), but I'm not sure if I want to write it first then make the mod or do them at the same time.

Map-wise, there would be four general areas. The first is the ruins of an Old World city, but only a small portion would be seen in a cutscene so it doesn't have to be terribly sophisticated. The second is a town similar to Tarnhill, which might consist of a few maps. The third is a forest and abandoned quarry. The last is the Order facility.

I'm debating internally between doing it close to vanilla in style with minimal changes to weapons and enemies or changing up the weapons and revamping the whole thing to look like a Strife sequel made a few years later. I'll probably go with the former and save the second option for a future Strife project.

The other idea I had involves more dealing with the Front, more digging into the (fanon) lore, and it would be a lot longer so that's why I came up with this alternative. I'm a bit busy right now, but if things go well I can actually start on this.

I did, however, write a tentative opening quote.
Spoiler:
Now, if only I had a decent voice to narrate it.
