They're not gone to waste; you can find them in some other mods such as Stronghold and are also available individually on the Realm667 weapon repository.

They are already used in the previous releases of DE, if you needed the sprites, you can grab them from there. However, if you mean like a separate weapon skin pack, then that' impossible. The new weapons have different amounts of graphics and animation than the old ones, and thus can't use the same decorate.

Hmm I did not see them on Realm667, I'll have another look.

I wonder if you could make that death animation for the Mancubus, if you have the time.

Here you go.
I named them FATT* so they can be used just as a mancubus reskin for testing. It's easy to rename them all at once in a wad editor.
Offsets were automatically assigned by SLADE 3. Some slight tweaks might be needed.
Sprites are optimized PNG. The images are big enough that it takes less space than Doom sprite format.

Some of the sprites have pieces of the neighboring graphic in them. Is there a way to edit the sprite directly with Slade? Like Wintex?

It might happen some day; but I'd rather see the "edit in DB2" mechanism extended to other lumps that can be edited externally.
