Okay, looking at the atmosphere and listening to the music in that video, I could see more Silent Hill-esque monsters than what I was originally working on.

also, 'bout the star wars preview, i saw the blaster rifle's muzzle flash was orange, not red. unlike the projectile itself. so hope it helped!

Given the horrendous UV texture issue and other issues relating with the mesh, i had to do the whole process again with the .3ds model. Contrary to .obj, this .3ds model is shattered into independent meshes, so i had to select a mesh after a mesh over and over just to get the bones to work with every mesh is intented.
