My take on the doom skull keys with some extra variants.

I really like the skull keys, agaures. Maybe they could animate by having their eyes flicker like candlelight?
1) It doesn't look like the Doomguy's hand at all, and looks really out of place with the original game's art. This also goes for weapon sprites in general. They can look great when grouped together with weapons that have the same source, but when everything is meshed together it starts to look rather strange. Not everyone is an artist, and I do see why people go about this.
2) Doomguy's hands are not meant for angled weapons, and only a few of the several Doomguy hand sprites made by fans actually look like they could be from Adrian himself, but these hands were made to hold a specific weapon, and when applied to other weapons, it looks wonky a lot of the time.
This is just my opinion of course. When I make weapon sprites, I like to use Caleb's hands, because his seem to fit most weapon sprites if they're executed a certain way, and this .357 would probably look best with Caleb's hand.
