I also went on a spree and updated my monsters slighty, but then went psycho and wizzed up the map :)

But I forgot to bring it over, (since my main computer is offline) so whoops... To be continued.

I should make that monster I mentioned on the first page.
Even if my decorate sucks, the sprites would be useful for something.

After a bit of a break from spriting and a period of thing placement and experimenting, I've decided that it's definitely time to get the spriting done. So I should get that done in the next day or two. After that I'll have the motivation to DECORATE it.

The finished DECORATE should serve as fuel to get me to do the map and txt file, so that'll mean that you're most likely to get the Nautilus within the next seven days (or a little more).

That's right, I'm actually going to finish teh damn thing :)

If you want to submit more monsters, I would like you to put them in the Spawing Vats forum. At the moment, it is useless.

Then this thread becomes useless?

Hang about, this is the place where the people are, and all of the raters, plus a much wider general public. I don't see any advantage in signing up to another forum to submit a monster where it will get no attention.

I may as well keep it to myself if I can only submit it over there.

EDIT: All Nautilus (monster) sprites are complete. I'm now doing the projectiles sprites. (Yes there are two).

I'm going to submit it here when it's done unless somebody tells me it's over there or not at all.

EDIT2: I've done all of the sprites now, but they're in .BMP format, which means that I'll either need to change them into .PNG format, or just distribute the file via rapidshare. I'll probably do the latter, as it won't be a very big download once it's rar'd. Just too big for here. ;)

No, this thread is not useless. I will continue to rate and review monsters here. I'd just pefer them to be posted on those forums.

Well I'm posting it here, I should be able to attach it too (which means no rapidshare \o/) Shouldn't be too long now (day or two).

A very weak boss. Keeping a fair distance from it and just firing the chaingun and shotgun it took me 1:32 to kill it with 70% health loss.

Well you wouldn't want a very long fight against it, would you? It'd just get boring...

Anyway, out of 10, what do you think, and what should I do to make a good miniboss out of it?

With the slow underwater movement you're pretty limited when it comes to monster speed, but you should still make it faster and the arena larger. In water you can dodge attacks in any direction so use that for the attack patterns. As usual giving the monster an invulnerability + strong attack combo makes the fight more interesting. Since you're fighting underwater you can use attacks that push the player away.

Hmm, I suppose if I was to speed it up and make the arena larger, I'd be enlarging what I've got, basically...

I might have a look into that, depending on what other people rate it...

Have you tried swimming into it yet?

(that should make you keen to stand back, aside from the fact it has a powerful melee and the attack is much harder to dodge up close)

This was going to be a CyberImp, but since I goofed on these sprites, I'm starting over from scratch.

The wad doesn't include a decorate lump, since I plan to to do the coding after the sprites are finished, so I don't expect a rating from the judges. I do, however want to share this, my first (failed) attempt at monster engineering.

Edit: The Finished CyberImp can be found on page 19.
