Linux support: The larger doom fan base is on windows. Why not run a duel boot system witha pirated Windows OS? That way you wouodnt' be contributing towards M$'s pocket

.
Custom weapons: Right, there is something that bothers me... yeah, sure, custom weapons would be great but these games with all these fancy weapons just mean nothing to me... I never use grenades (too awkward and really stupid IMO) I mostly use the chaingun and shotrgun ij deoom... in fact, I mostly just use the shotgun! I'd like some wicked malee weaponms, but I can just use Hexens... but having millions of weapons? I don't get it... what could you possibly want to add? Dooms weapons are perfect... maybe a grenade launcher could be nice, and a rail gun... that's cool, we can already add those... a flame thrower? Yeah... we can do that... man, we can even do grenades... so, what more could one possibly want... Dooms qweapons are already incredibly well balananced, and although it is given too early, the super shotgun makes a great power weapon. So, what more can you add apart from useless eye candy and special effects?
The problem here is that people think power = better game. Yeah, lets make all the monsters stronger and all the weapons stronger... iys' just a huge power struggle... whatever happened to strategic gamesplay? Everttyone want's to fill a room with revenents and arch villesa... what about having a pink transport behinbd ytou... or running to a swith that will open adoor that will close soon, so you are frced to blindly run into the room fightin a few chaingunners or sargeants? Used well, that can be really difficult? But no, everyone wants to have all these fancy effects and big ass weapons, but IMO it's just pointless... maybe few nice weapons would be nice, Skulltag does a nice job of this... nicely balances out gameplay... I don't get it...
Version numbers: Who cares what the next Zdoom would be? Why by-pass a numbewr just because iot doesn't have a featurew that we kinda made up and over hyped? I'm sure the next version of Zdoom didn't have doomscript when randy announced it...
Strife support: Cool man! Strife was truly a great game (good to see that graf and i agree on something). I'd love to play that in Zdoom... full mouse support, can play it in XP and it will look so nice... not forgetting that fact that it is truly a great game

.
Crouching: This has been discussed time and time again... so please read the old flame wars before you request this. Why do we need crouhing? Back in the day we never really needed jumping, but it was added... which is cool, but not many people even incorperate that in their maps... I could bash together a nifty hack with fake floors ands it would be really cool fopr the sP game, but why would you need it in an MP game? People are too unimaginative these days... the thing that makes Doom sop good is the fact that we knpw it's not Doom3 or Half life, so we take shortcuts and use hacks to add depth and atmosphere to the maps... we add imagination to fake something that is just so impossible... thesew new engines are great, i'm not denying that, but what I love about Zdoom is that I can attempt to replicate these effects (udiung a lot of effort mind) and when I pull that off I have a real sense of acheivement. Stop asking for crouching damn it! It's unecesary, iy's would require new sprites and it would void off custom skins, unless someonme can re-draw all of those custom skins with crouching sprites. Really, it's not necesary, so stop asking for it!
Verdict: Release a more recent Zdoom version so we can test for bugs, play strife and look forward to better things in the future.
Look at this logically... randy can release an half done weapons support with hacks and limitations that woiuld probably be only slightly better than dehacked, or, he can spend more time on developing the inventpory system while we enjoy strife. Gee, you talk about being patient, but you contridict yourself because if randy rushes the hacked weapon code then he'll jus be spending more time on fixing that system... why spoend ages improving a hacked system when you can work on a better system?
That's my contribution to this. Either like it or hate it, I don't care.
