It should be works when the magazine's behavior is almost like to the ww2 sniper rifles; loading a bullet once instead of stripper clips.

No room for top-side loading so I imagine we'll be forced into using magazines.

Or, make the scope far. Far away from the reciver. Then it'll able to reload like a good ol' garand.

A real M1C Garand sniper rifle actually has its scope offset slightly to the left of the magazine well, allowing the user to use the en-bloc clips without the scope getting in the way.Captain J wrote:Or, make the scope far. I didn't see that second scope but wow, I like that one a lot better, it seems like you can load it like a regular M1 Garand now that the scope is sort of attached to the rear iron sights and looks a little shorter.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Was thinking of going for a side-mount and that's probably what's gonna happen. Probably won't be able to tell much of a difference when the sprite's done though.
Now all I need to do is find some slick way to finish the scope and then come the shadows.
Edith: Yeah, the tiny scope does look nice. Space combat-sight! Plus the iron sight is still there. (It all just started working out all of a sudden.) But I'll still try to get the full scope on there somehow.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I actually want to allow both - en-blocs can be loaded from the top, and mags from the bottom: an en-bloc will be built into the uppermost part of the magazine, forming an adapter that feeds single rounds from the magazine into the clip. The magazine itself will prevent the clip ejection mechanism from attempting to engage the faux en-bloc once empty.Carbine Dioxide wrote:Nice base for the scope, the only problem I think is that the scope on the pick up looks as though is is a little more rounded. Also, how are you planning to load it? I thought The Rail Gunner scrapped the magazine idea...
@Slax: I like your scope - the length of the first one with the sight integration of the second. I actually wanted the front of the scope to be squarish like the one you made, and the rear of the scope to resemble the general shape of the one I posted. A side-mounted version would work, though I also thought of having the player move the scope to load en-blocs.
SPAAAAAAAAACE...combat sight!

I think the side scope would work if the scope itself were a bit thinner.

dang, i had no idea about left mounted scopes. But i'd like to call it was intentional just in case of railgunner didn't liked that position of that scope.wildweasel wrote:real M1C Garand sniper rifle actually has its scope offset slightly to the left of the magazine well, allowing the user to use the en-bloc clips without the scope getting in the way.

Why does everyone want the scope smaller and thinner? I'll have to work on a concept drawing or something.Captain J wrote:Also the scope should be smaller and roundier to be attached, too.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Could have the small scope fold backwards for reloading, I guess. Ran out of juice so I probably won't be spriting any more for a while. :I

Making a rotating scope would takes extra times to finish, through.
my mistake, there. Even recent scope is bigger, if you can attach it far to the left, there's will be no trouble, i think.TheRailgunner wrote:Why does everyone want the scope smaller and thinner? I'll have to work on a concept drawing or something.

I didn't realize how rude my post sounded until I had a second look at it - I'm so very sorryCaptain J wrote:Making a rotating scope would takes extra times to finish, through.my mistake, there. I was getting high as balls off of that juice! Perhaps the scope can fold to the left or forward?Slax wrote:Could have the small scope fold backwards for reloading, I guess. Ran out of juice so I probably won't be spriting any more for a while. :I

Maybe the gun just absorbs the scope whenever you need to reload. SPACE MAGIC, YEAH!

*scope recedes into clip well, leaving the player to ponder how the hell one even reloads the fucking thing*Slax wrote:Maybe the gun just absorbs the scope whenever you need to reload. SPACE MAGIC, YEAH!
