I agree, if it is just random music, then fuck it and make it optional. However since Lexus is making the music himself, you'll be missing out an important part of the wad if the music optional and you didn't get it.

I don't think it is an issue for anyone with a fast connection. There is a whole world of difference between broadband and dial-up. So, it might be an issue for some dial-uppers. However, if I was still on dial-up, this would be on my "must download" list, and hang the filesize. ;)

This WAD is going to be a real "double edged sword". On one hand, it's another Lexus WAD - much anticipated, likely to be good looking, atmospheric and have great music. On the other hand, it means we're not going to see another one. :?

That assumption would be correct IMO, and I speak as a dial-up user.

The only people who'd complain are whiney bitches, and they deserve nothing less than :chainsaw2:

I really dont mind the size, as long as its a good wad I really dont care. Take the ROTC Hub for example, big in size but beautiful maps. You can Always make a Dial up friendly version.

I'm open to correction here, but couldn't you convert these to mp3 format and save significant space?

If they're sound effects, you may not want to use lossy compression (ogg would compress better than mp3, anyway). FLAC would be a good choice for compressed lossless sound.

@Lexus - Why not .rar it? The compression is much better and anyone can get the software for it free.

7zip tends to compress better than .rar, and it's free too.

But /idgames only accepts zips. (7zip compresses well even in zip format, though)

KoF: Don't bitch and get GetRight or something like it.

Endless hours downloading rtc3057 with 64kbps ... :-)
Best pick: Use q=-1 (45kbps) OGG music (sounds goddamn better than any mp3 at that level) and split any additional stuff off the main WAD, like music or sounds.
