@BetaSword: It's definitely doable, but I'll have to mess with some things to keep the controls relatively simple.
Anyways, I think I'm on to a way of using two sets of weapon sprites at once! I may or may not have a five-hour block of Nothing Time at work today, so I'll see if I can use that to get my idea into code before I forget it. The trouble will come up with punching. It's easy enough to hang onto a gun and give something the Mighty Boot ala Duke, but striking out with the fists is another thing entirely. Then again, it could end up working like in Devil May Cry with easy and fast transitions between melee attacks and ranged weapons.

I spent most of today messing with the player weapon sprites, and discovered that it'll be a royal pain. However, there IS the excellent Decorate++, so why ignore it? The only problem is this will make it essentially impossible to quickly switch between weapons and close combat, which defeats the purpose of ZDoomFu. I'm sure there's a way to fix that, but we'll see.- Changed -
