Forum drama does not impact on the quality of his work, just like Newton being a creationist doesn't negate his theory of gravity. Somebody else may pick up and keep working on projects for the mod, like so many have already done. I got started with modding because I liked a lot of what Brutal Doom did, but still liked some aspects of the original doom more, as is reflected in this little project of mine.
Basically, this:
Those who browse the project page...

Re: Those who browse the project page...
He wasn't mad, he just said that the forum drama with Sgt. Mark IV is ridiculous, especially since he's perma-banned.
Re: Those who browse the project page...
How about we steer direction away from that proverbial cliff/iceberg, and get it going where it should be? You folks have done some disservice to topic's original intent, which may not be about Brutal Doom.
Does this kind of action depend on forum administration, though?
I do like the idea for separate boards for other idtech1 games, since some projects get buried. It would be easy to navigate for them, and maybe comment, contribute or least, deserve some playing.ThomsonI wrote:Anyone else wondering if it might be a good idea to shovel the mods modding or based on Brutal Doom into their own subforum, or to require [Brutal Doom] as a tag on such projects?
Shoving them all off into a subforum wouldn't have to glorify the mod for those who don't care for/about such mods (but rather get it out of their way), and it wouldn't be some sort of ghetto for those who do care about such mods (but rather a place to focus on them).
(However, I can understand keeping the project threads for Doom, Heretic, Hexen, and Strife all in the same forum instead of subforum, because there's cross-compatible and cross-interest mods.)

Separate boards are pointless IMO, it's more work for us. It'd be easier if people could just put tags in their project thread titles like [Heretic] or [Hexen] or [Strife].

Re: Those who browse the project page...
Should I do that for Lifelong Strife?
EDIT: Well, I guess Strife is in the name, but still...

I for one, welcome this banning.
I'm very curious as to what he actually did that broke the camels back but I assume that's not really allowed to be talked about.
But the guy seemed very arrogant and just kind of standoffish.
And this is personal opinion obviously but I think brutal doom was massively overrated. The gore is cool, yes, but the weapons and new animations for the enemies were mostly terrible and they moved around really quickly without looking like they were so they just kind of slid around everywhere, I just wasn't a fan of most of the changes, but to each their own.
EDIT: Whoops. This is quite old. How long ago was he banned, maybe I'm out of the loop lol.

Re: Those who browse the project page...
Why would you bump a thread to start ranting about Sgt. Mark IV after the whole situation ended?

Agreement or otherwise, I'm not sure that a post like this was really necessary.hitmanx wrote:I for one, welcome this banning.
The last bits of the (now closed) Brutal Doom thread should give you a decent clue as to what happened.I'm very curious as to what he actually did that broke the camels back but I assume that's not really allowed to be talked about.
Either way, it's over and there's not really any need to prolong it any further.
