It's not a sure thing that it's the program's fault. It could be a bug in the operating system, or even a hardware malfunction.
It's pretty clear that you've tried everything reasonable to fix this, and none of us are able to help you. It's going to require Randy taking the crash log and figuring out where it's crashing and maybe what's causing it. I'd recommend letting the topic sit for awhile to give him time to get around to it, and see what he says about it. In the meantime, you'll just have to live with a relatively low resolution.
Just keep in mind that Randy's doing this in his spare time. Bumping the thread to whine about it every couple hours isn't going to help and is only going to annoy people.

Well, considering you seem to be the only one, I wouldn't be so quick to rule out your computer's guilt. It works for me too, on a 6800 GT (i.e. downclocked 6800 Ultra).Virgil wrote:This definitely seems like a bug and not something my computer's guilty of.
Unfortunately, a lot of those addresses in the crash log don't match what's in my map file for 2.0.63a, so I can't check any further. (I think I may have saved the wrong map file when I built it.) The best I can suggest is wait until the next version and maybe it will work because of other changes I've made.
...darn.
Oh well. Thanks for replying.
One last weird thing about this (maybe it's of use to you?): this bug is the only one. Every other game (Counter-Strike, DOOM3, McGee's Alice, NOLF2, Soldier of Fortune 2, Halo PC, etc, etc.) runs at 1024*768 or higher and 60+fps without any flaws. It had to be the game I love the most, didn't it.

While giving up MAY be the right thing to do (since it just MIGHT be pointless), I think you should try more games other than ZDooM in SoftWare mode. The software mode rendering in ZDooM is quite good but ZDooM still IS open-source software that is always in development and redevelopment, constantly being updated (sometimes slowly, I might add!
). That means that it's probably better to try a big-budget game like Half-Life in software mode, or you could try Jedi Knight. There are other ports as well, so you could give all of those a try. But I'd say the most important thing to do first is to try it in a different OS, since Windows NT and ZDooM dislike each other more often than not, especially when it comes to rendering.
