Re: Brutal Doom Lite: Now it is ZDoom/GZDoom-compatible!

Post by Xaser »

Son of a bitch. 4shared is making me wait five minutes to download the file. Like, the wait counter is at close to 300 seconds. :/

Forgive the annoying fileshare suggestions, but Mediafire has proven to be much less annoying in practice. That or there's DRDTeam's Filehost assuming registration has been fixed...

[EDIT] And when the counter hit zero and I clicked 'download', I get a screen with "Thank you for downloading bdlitev13gzdoom.zip" and no download whatsoever. I won't be playing this unless a mirror is provided, I'm afraid. :(

yeah, you're right, i don't like 4shared because of the waiting time for non-premium users. so that's why i think 4shared kinda bastard. i am very liked mediafire that rather not too monkey business. mediafire rules! :D

Use Multiupload for things like this - it automatically uploads your file to multiple different sites including Megaupload and Mediafire.

Well, thank you very much, sir. *ahem*... well, is it a sir? It's impossible to tell these days given your choice of avatar... :P

Anyhow, I'll give this a runthrough with a few mods, for fun compatibility purposes.

[EDIT] The results were surprisingly satisfying. The mod works awesomely alongside Parkour and would mesh perfectly with Psychic -- the similarly-named damagtypes make it so that the Plasma power actually causes Plasma deaths in enemies :) . Only problem is that the enemies no longer drop Bloodmoney, but that's totally okay since I can release it with a patch that fixes that. ;)

I did notice a crapton of warnings at the console when running the mod, though. Lots of nonexistent things being referenced, still, and while nothing's broken, it might be worth cleaning it up so the flood of messages doesn't mess with anyone's mind. Cool stuff, though -- been hoping for this, actually, for this exact purpose. :)

Has anybody else been having issues where your shots keep aiming for center mass, even with autoaim and Smart Autoaim off? I'm using "Real Reloading Weapons" and all my shots keep hitting the center of where I'm aiming even when I'm using something like a rocket launcher. Anything I might be able to do in order to keep this from happening?

EDIT: Yeah, it's not just with mods; I tried it plain vanilla, and shots keep targeting center mass everytime regardless of where I'm aiming.

Double edit: Never mind; I didn't know there was a console command that took care of everything at once. It's working much better now.

I really like how this manages to help enhance other weapons mods and balance everything out in certain ways. Using it in conjunction with "Real Reloading Weapons" is a terrific way to give the weapons more potential power with Brutal's mechanics, which fixes what problems I had with the mod (although it doesn't quite fix the woefully slow and inaccurate pistol), while the small permanent health boosts you get from using RRW's Berserk pack replacements keeps the extra difficulty nice and manageable. I'd like to try Brutal Lite with the Doom 3 Weapons set, but alas the plasma ball problem keeps it from working. Anybody find their "favorite" mod mixes yet?

I still recommend BD Lite and Project MSX. They work great together after I removed a few things to get them compatible. All I need to do now is tweak the guns a little to be slightly more powerful.

It's pretty good, what disappoints me it's that it don't works with Russian Overkill.

There is a small issue I've noticed, and I'm trying to look up a way to fix it.

Formers don't drop clips when you kill them. Sergeants drop shotguns, but Formers don't drop any pistol ammo. This does make some .wads (Especially stock Doom at start) pretty tough.

This also means that when paired with weapon .wads that have Formers dropping ammo, that doesn't work either.

EDIT: Fixed. Changed "Dropitem:"Rifle"" to "Dropitem: "Clip""

The only 2 issues with this I have seen so far:
1. Some of the monster drops need to be tweaked. Have the former humans and chaingun guys drop clips, and the sergeants drop shells.
2. Any mod that replaces the plasma ball will need to be loaded after BDlite.
