If there are obits written for Strife, here's some of my suggestions, attempting to stray away from the cliche's...

"%o has had an...accident, thanks to %k" (punch dagger)
"%o shouldn't touch any electronics anytime soon, courtesy of %k" (electric crossbow)
"%k always warned %o about lethal spider bites, but %g never listened..." (poison crossbow)
"%o has been pummeled by a a few of %k's rifle bullets" (rifle)
"%o is missing his face thanks to %k's missile" (missile, direct hit)
"%o didn't move away fast enough from %k's missile" (missile, splash damage)
"%o was blown to smithereens by %k's bouncing orbs of doom" (grenade launcher)
"%o flambé, served piping hot courtesy of %k" (incendiary grenade)
"%o was burninated by %k" (flamethrower)

Can't think of anything outside of these.

The obituaries need to be short and simple, around 5 to 8 words, including player names.

The long ones are awkward, will wrap to the next line for people with text scaling, and to be honest, I don't care or have the time to read that stuff in a fast-paced game anyway.

Can we update some of the Doom ones, surely it should be 'bitten by a demon' and not 'bit by a demon'? Also, the one where it says 'squashed by a mancubus' is good and humuorous, but doesn't really make sense when they got shot by big balls of fire (or maybe I'm just being fussy)

As a matter of style and consistency, the person who died should always be the first thing in the obituary. That way, someone can quickly scan it and know right away who died.

Like I said, it's all useless. In a fast-paced DM game, I don't have time to look at the top of the screen, and even if I wanted to; it would have to be consistent as Randy suggested (victim is the first word, killer is the last word) so it's easy for me to sort of peak for a split second (hence it also has to be short, the obituary must NOT wrap around for users with text scaling).
