Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
I really like the "fake" 3D you've got going on. It reminds me of Sega's Y Board arcade games like Rail Chase and Galaxy Force.

Look at the Might and Magic 6-8 sprites, they're good.Hellstorm Archon wrote:Maybe sprites could be made out of the models, perhaps?
And they're all (well, almost all) model renders.
The problem is just that you'd need a good texture, and I'm yet to find out how to texture a model properly.
It's cruel to paint the UV in Photoshop.

Staring at Flixel a whole bunch. Sorely, sorely tempted.

This looks similar to Notch's legend of the chambered.InsanityBringer wrote:
Early look at DungeonCrawly. Much of the game mechanics are preliminary, and what's there is loosely based off D&D rules. Beware the filler sprites!(also not as awesome as Skyrim)
Though this is reminding me that I really need to work on my project management one of these days.

It just so happens that I'm using Notch's failed LD19 engine and art for this thing, which is probably why you're seeing the similarities. Not sure if I'm going to drop his work, but mine would probably suck

Working on expanding ReCraft thanks to the new 1.8 update. Gah.

@InsanityBringer: Hope magic'll be in in a way that you can specialize it. I always love playing a spell caster.
Or maybe take some of the dances from Dragon Quest, nothing like defeating enemies with the power of smooth moves.

I haven't worked out magic yet beyond "you can scribe scrolls", so I'll see what I can come up with later in the project's development.

Tested out Sculptris. It's pretty intuitive and didn't take more than 10 minutes to figure out all the basic function. Tested it by sculpting something simple, like this cacodemon-ish thing. Afterawhile it started to lag like crazy. Guess I'm putting too much detail in, or my graphics card (or lack there of) sucks.

If you're going to do any kind of serious 3D modeling or rendering, you're going to want a powerful machine. Including some good video hardware, a strong multicore processor, and higher than average memory.Eriance wrote:Tested out Sculptris. I'm saving up for just that. Getting a Phenon 2 Hexcore with 3.4 ghz, and a GTX 460 and 2 gbs more ram.

Hmm, I should try Skulptris, I've always wanted to attempt 3D Modeling but I've never liked blender much. Then again, I never tried it seriously enough.
