I'm sure ton of people notice. I just think they don't really care.

Redrew the revolving shotgun, it was a lot easier the second time, actually. This only took me about a half hour, the last one took a few hours.
Spoiler:Any thoughts before I start coloring it?

Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
That's a long barrel, sir.
Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
Finished the first draft for architecture, etc. of my map for Doom the Way id Did (now E3M6).
Here's some screenshots so you can see the newer areas:
Editor shot:

The room with the chaingun pickup in it. Getting that blue key involves a very tough gauntlet, as its part of how you get to the secret exit.

This room is entirely optional, but houses a secret switch that lets you get that invisibility.

Once through the red key door you get this lava cave on the way to the yellow key.

This room has the red key door and the plasma gun, amongst other things.

Hopefully this is at least slightly like what we're after :\

Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
Quickly colored it, I didn't do the shell, hammer, or that thing the hammer hits
EDIT - newer version
EDIT2 - updated again, the barrel was too long
EDIT3 - fixed the chamber, added a shotgun shell
EDIT4 - I think I'm getting used to drawing weird shapes at weird angles, after drawing lousy looking firing hammers, I think I've figured out how to make something look like it's going both forward and up.
That might not sound very cool, but it's a huge improvement in my skill.

Old stuff, in case you want to see how it progressed:

Looking much better. I still think it's pointed a bit too high though. My quick and dirty perspective check with a pencil estimates it's pointing 35°-45° upward. Shotgun uppercut.
Your skills definitely are improving, keep it up.

I think he's making it in High-res. Which, when scaled down, might look ok. It looks like there are two different vanishing points, though. The Circular black tubes also don't look circular.

hmm... could you show me the two vanishing points? I drew it with one, what makes it look like there's two?Eriance wrote: It looks like there are two different vanishing points, though. The Circular black tubes also don't look circular.
Also, the chambers are a little rough in shape, but the look more or less circular to me, what in particular makes them look non-circular?

I've been too lazy to make the TEXTURES lump so I could see it in game, but I probably should, that's the best way to see if it's pointing in the right direction.
EDIT...8: I hope this post doesn't sound like I'm demanding an explanation, at this point I'd like as much detail as possible so I can see where I messed up.

All we need is a Korean version and one could go "Yes, I'm prepared to die, Koreax".

The audio in the second and third clip makes it impossible to tell what Korax is saying.

Re: WHAT THE HELL are you working on (WIP THREAD not gossip)
Oh, um, I just kind-of take a pencil (or another long-straight object), hold it up next to the picture and try to align it to what the picture looks like, then I just look at the pencil from the side and see how far up it's pointing.cq75 wrote:could you post your pencil check? I'm not an artist though, so who knows if this method works or not. I just kind-of made it up on the spot.
Not sure what it is that's throwing me off, I think it might be that it's so tall, if you look at the Doom shotgun, it's only just barely on the screen, but in the reload animation, it looks plenty long. I dunno.
I do see what Eriance is saying about the 2 vanishing points on the revolver part. The chamber at the top definitely looks like it's pointing the wrong way. That might be what's throwing me off.
Note that I'm incredibly nitpicky, so my standards are pretty insurmountable, don't worry about impressing me.
