I use mechanical pencils because I'm a cheapass, not because of school. :V Still do for drawing. I'm too broke to afford proper artist's tools like art pencils and Prismacolor pencils and good rubbers and good art pens or markers.Ricochet wrote:I wish I could use artist pencils, but I have trained myself to only use No. 2 pencils thanks to school.Cage wrote:Buy a soft pencil so you can push the darks more

I just use sharpie pens, which are essentially art pens, but not as pricey. And there are quite a few colours available.

And Sharpies sometimes work, sure, but it's a bitch and a half to find a great pen that gives me extra-fine lines. After making the switch to digital and struggling to find such traditional tools, I just hadn't looked back.

In the wasteland of school supplies that is school itself, mechanical pencils are highly sought after and rare... for me at least.Project Dark Fox wrote:I use mechanical pencils because I'm a cheapass, not because of school. :V Still do for drawing. Eh? I'm not sure if you live in the States, but if you do, in almost any department store and even in most Dollar stores, you can get a pack of 5 or 10 for only a couple bucks. Replacement lead is dirt cheap, too.
Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
Well I'm too lazy to buy them.

Get a crow quill pen
Guess I'm a weirdo, I've switched over from digital to analog
While I like digital coloring, drawing and sketching works a lot better on paper for me.
As far as art supplies go, pencils and pen/nibs/ink are the cheapest I think. Paints can be pricey, and unfortunately, buying cheap ones bites you back most of the time - there's either a problem with coverage, consistency or sometimes even the pigment separates from the medium :/ not good!

Hah that's great. Why port Half Life 2 to Doom when it's much more effective to do the opposite?
The one thing you do notice is that some monsters such as the Arachnotron and Cacodemon seem a lot smaller in relation to the environments for some reason.

Finally got the music out of Lazerman flash game. That game's a trip... I mean who separates a person's head from his body and keeps the head alive, giving it the superpower to bash into things anyway?
