Re: JohnnyDoom - making BD great again
I think I may have overhyped myself for this a bit, because I honestly prefer the old version a little.
Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of hard work that you've put into this Johnny, no denying that. I think you've done a really good job with the mod. But something about it just feels off for me. I'm not really a fan of the new weapon sprites, and I don't find the sounds as nice as before. I'm also not really sure why you took away the rifle start, and only gave us the pistol. And also I find it less quick than before, like it's more sluggish overall.
Like I said, I appreciate the hard work you do with this mod, and it's still a great offshoot of regular BD. But I think I'm gonna' have to stick to the old version for now. Maybe I'll warm up to it later, who knows.

Re: JohnnyDoom - making BD great again
Using gameplay mods with mapsets that utilize DEHACKED for custom actors is a very bad idea for reasons I have loudly bitched about in the past.
Re: JohnnyDoom - making BD great again
What's the difference between the Doomworld version and this version of Ultimate Simplicity?

This isn't a separate version; it's a compatibility patch.
Re: JohnnyDoom - making BD great again
Damn, it seems like the people who like this are mostly those who didn't play the original. I don't know what to do about that

I've been enjoying the new version a lot, actually.johnny wrote:Damn, it seems like the people who like this are mostly those who didn't play the original. I don't know what to do about that
Re: JohnnyDoom - making BD great again
An entirely redistributed modified version... I wouldn't call that a patch.Wivicer wrote:This isn't a separate version; it's a compatibility patch.

Re: JohnnyDoom - making BD great again
Like I said, it's not bad, not bad at all. I guess I'm just so used to the old version that it makes it difficult to get used to how it is now.johnny wrote:Damn, it seems like the people who like this are mostly those who didn't play the original. I don't know what to do about that
Keep doing what you're doing man, 'cause we still love you're work.
Re: JohnnyDoom - making BD great again
Thanks mans.
j_usimp just has the status bar removed. Otherwise it has a message saying "TURN OFF THE MAIN DOOM HUD" across the center of the screen that won't go away. And it's a really good mapset so I wanted to make it playable

I like this new version so far. I honestly haven't played the mod in awhile, so it's been nice to get back into it.johnny wrote:Damn, it seems like the people who like this are mostly those who didn't play the original. I don't know what to do about that

Small bug that is ultimately unimportant, but might be easy to crush: You can enter Maximum Overdrive and spend your J Points on a powerup while dead.
