"Black textures"

Post by Martix10 »

Well I don't know why I'm getting this weird bug/problem or whatever is this. I re-made the map 4 times and I get the same thing all the time. The problem is if a lower the brightness of the sector some parts of the wall go black! :?: The texture is there, if I use the lite amplification goggles i can see them.
Here some screens.

I'm using the GZDoom Builder 1.14 (r1685) and GzDoom 1.9.
Any Idea of what that could be ?

Try switching fake contrast off in display options. If you prefer one of those settings, you can specify EvenLighting or SmoothLighting in MAPINFO.

If it looks the same way in (G)ZDoom, then you've accidentally changed sidedef brightness on those 2 sidedefs. If that's the case, just reset it:

If it's not, can you send me the map to look at?

You can upload it to something like MediaFire or Google Drive then either post the link here or send it to me via PM.

It's not so much black textures as too dark a light level. Imagine yourself in a room without light.

Start GZDoom.

In Options - Display Options you can set Brightness and Contrast, although the defaults are good settings.

Go on to OpenGL Options - Preferences - Sector Light Mode and scroll through the available modes
until you find something you like. Standard or Doom are usually good choices.

When back in the game, hit F11 until you find the preferred light level.

Note:
Some video driver packages let you choose the settings from either 1. the video driver or 2. the application.
If 1, then the driver may be set to too dark and will overrule the settings from GZDoom and you have to go
through F11 every time you start GZDoom.

... and FYI, this can be preset in MAPINFO!
