No, but this is how Vanilla Doom did it so it is most likely to stay that way.
(some people were complaining about the .63a behaviour because there's essentially no penalty for dying if you get to keep your weapons)

Randy may add a compat. option if you ask him.

I don't think this is a bug. But however, I did sometimes like the way it kept your weapons and prehaps it could be turned into an option.... maybe?...

If a player dies in coop he/she loses his/her weapons with 2.0.92, this was not the case with 2.0.63a.
