Well, at least there's a cool unarmed zombie sprite set in there. I'm sure a lot of people will find that useful.
Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
Yeah, there's a few sounds, a handful of textures, a new barrel, reskinned weapons and three enemies total, corresponding to zombieman, shotgun guy and demon.
I haven't double checked, but it seems the textures are the same in all four wads. The zombie shooter includes the other two enemies, even if they're not used in the levels.
It's interesting how it alternates between "chaingun levels" and "shotgun levels".

So it's a modern shooter then.Gez wrote:It's interesting how it alternates between "chaingun levels" and "shotgun levels".

Hey Gez, there are non-shareware lumps inside those WADs (Lost Soul, Cyberdemon, various E2/E3 graphics, etc)... are you sure you're allowed to upload these files?
Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
I was planning on replacing it with a cleaned-up version ASAP.
In the meantime, if people object to it strongly, the links in the OP should also be removed...

Uploaded cleaned out versions, thanks to Slade r1219.

Hmm. I tried a bunch of the other games on the developer's gamejolt page - some of them almost feel as if they're based on other flash games, but there are two of them (Special Trooper Forces and Warflash) that are actually based on Quake. As in, you can still pull down the console, type Impulse 9, and get access to the registered Quake weapons, even though the developer "disabled" the console by - get this - completely blanking out the console font and menu graphics. Talk about your hamfisted development practices...

Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
Can anyone rip the PAKs out of those two? I'd like to investigate
Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
Sure, here you go.
I didn't bother cleaning them out since the pak format is a lot less convenient for that than the wad format (e.g., textures are squirreled away inside the bsp). So any automated clean-up would have been partial at best.

Strongly disagreeGez wrote:pak format is a lot less convenient for that than the wad format
i love directory structures more than markers.
Also it's possible to use QuArK to open the BSPs and replace textures without a recompile
Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
I said "less convenient for that" specifically. I have written simple code that compares lumps together, and I'd have to make it a lot more complex to handle directory trees and nested archives.

Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
These games are very interesting. He might not be very creative as far as gameplay and overall theme, (all of his games are military-influenced) but he's definitely ambitious, if nothing else.
I honestly think this guy is trying to make his own games without actually having to work hard at coding an actual game. (Which explains why he makes them in Flash instead of releasing them as mods for existing games.) Unfortunately, thanks to the limitations of Flash, the two above mentioned games lag so much that they almost arent worth playing past level 3. And the lack of a proper mouselook doesn't help much, either.

Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
Can anyone get me the sprites for these games in spritesheet format? I'd like to edit them at some point.
Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
Look a few posts above. All resources available in wad format. You can always make the spritesheet by yourself if so you want.
Re: Look at what I found! (Super Sergeant Shooter 2)
Very much this. It doesn't make sense to extract the sprites from the wad and paste them into a sheet so that...Gez wrote:Look a few posts above. All resources available in wad format.
...wait a minute, didn't I post this exact same thing once already? O:
Anyway, Web 0.1.
