Personally, I think Blox's one does look better. The very plain-looking frontal area on the original detracted from it. If I were to post a sprite, or whatever, and Blox, or whoever, was to show me by example how to improve it, personally I'd be delighted.

He didn't suggest anything. He just posted his interpretation of the post that asked about "color tweaks".
Honestly, it doesn't really look good, the shading is way too strong, and it looks badly filtered.

I think what the central area needs is detailing more than color tweaks. Give it the bumpy, scaly look of cacoskin.

I also didn't really have time by then.

As for why I always "fix" things, ever heard of a hobby? Well, I certainly don't have much to do. And often I find motivation to do stuff on others' stuff.

Good practice, too. And let's see if I can actually pull something out now that I have time and the tools.

Buh? What's with the sudden hate here?

Opinion matter, but I disagree. The increased contrast makes it look much nicer, IMO. A lot less flat.

That's fine and whatnot. But the rest of your post from here on out is completely unwarranted, IMO. From the top,
I'm sorry
No you're not.
but, why do you always try to 'fix' things?
Why not?
I mean, it doesn't always look good and could be seen as an insult to the original creator of the graphic like so; "Oh, your graphic sucks, I'll pass it through 20 filters in photoshop to make it less crappy. There we go, it's now less shitty".
The only thing shitty in such a situation would be the original creator's attitude. I'm having a really hard time seeing how Blox could have meant any disrespect with his actions, and this notion of "you touched my shit therefore you claim it sucked, you insulting bastard" is complete bollocks. Blox doesn't do three-minute upscale+filter jobs. Why are you trying to discourage creativity?
... See where I'm coming from?
Probably not, because you've likely lost your target audience well before this point.

I'm sure I'm doing a disservice to some by responding in anger and snippy semi-sarcasm, but you're trying to discourage someone from doing something that he likes and obviously puts a lot of work into. Why? Who is this work harming? Is it pissing off the general populace? If not, what could yelling about it possibly accomplish?

tl;dr: Stop that. You are discouraging legitimate creativity. That's stupid.

Back on the rails-

@jaws45: That character looks pretty cool. It's like the doom 64 pain elemental retrofit to stock doom style. You should definitely try to finish that!

@Globe: That's a cool imp edit you are doing. I would suggest making the color range darker or pinker, right now it looks like he is covered in strawberry jam :P .

Looks good, jaws45 but the second angle looks too much the same from the first angle (like there's not much different). Pretty cool stuff, otherwise!

Yeah, it looks like the mouth furthest from the camera is ignoring perspective. It should probably be a bit smaller. Other than that, it's pretty cool though.
