OMG Weapons, it was the first mod I had ever played with new custom Decorate stuff and I loved it :)

ZDCMP1 was the one which got me to sign up here, and got me to map for ZDoom, so I'd say that definitely wins. Still one of the best ones I've played, and probably the best showcase of ZDoom features in a playable, fun map.

The only moment that comes to mind was how many times I said "How the heck did they do that?!?!" while playing KDiZD, even though I had some pretty fair modding experience of my own, lol.

I'm afraid that, for me, probably my most memorable experience with a Doom wad was Justin Fisher's AliensTC, an astonishing 14 years ago! What he achieved using new graphics, DeHacked, and some ingenious map design is still a benchmark.

I can't help wondering what he could make now. :)

The original Doom games, of course. :P Though for more modern stuff, Massmouth 2 and Foreverhood. Massmouth 2 just plain made me go "Wow" and was a really great experience... and if I need to explain Foreverhood you obviously haven't played it. :P

Episode 2 was the best episode if you ask me. :D

[EDIT]Gah, can't believe I forgot about Deus Vult. Simply epic. :) Void as well.

most memorable wad experience? Hmm, let's see...

i'd say it was, back in the day, the Wolfendoom wads by Laz Rojas.
Those completely blew me away since I thought that was impossible for doom. (having played vanilla doom up to that point!)

Then I got blown away all the same by Massmouth 2 and TNT2.

and had it occur once more (recently!) with TCOTD:A.

As of recently, possibly my first encounter with the Bruiserdemon in KDiZD.

Immoral Conduct for EDGE was a pretty profound experience for me; it was the first WAD I ever played that had full reloading, shell casings, smoke effects, dropped empty clips during reloads, and random monsters. The weapon modding scene has never been the same since.

Void by Cyb is the one I most remember. It was the first ZDoom wad I played and really made me want to learn how to script.
