Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Drawing and shading can be learned, I'd say. Of course, you must show some passion for it, otherwise it's not gonna work out well. It might be a lot of work and might take lots of time if you start from 0 talent, but if you really want it, you can become quite talented at it.
Of course there are things you can't learn, but I think drawing is not one of those things.

Obviously nobody understands what I mean when I say that I've tried spriting! I've looked at tutorials and have been using gimp for several years and my graphics are still absolute shit. I don't care what all of you bastards think. I'm done here. I give up. Thanks for making me look like a fool you assholes!

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
There's a common saying for every budding artist out there: "Everyone has a 1000 bad drawings inside. The sooner we get those out the sooner we can start making better drawings"
This generally applies to sprite work as well.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Look, I can understand your frustration. Hell, I've been dragging my feet on mapping and scripting for ages. But what I won't tolerate is the attitude (this also goes for torrid, bad form there). I advise you to take a few steps back, think things over, maybe find something relaxing that you can do in the mean time.
I really don't want to have to do the moderator thing here, so please don't do anything rash.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
I apologize for the massive rage, but I'm just tired of the lack of sympathy. Most of the people on this thread are experienced spriters, so you probably don't understand my point here. I'm only trying to get some help with some sprites.

Plus, I'm burnt out from coding the damn thing.
I hope you get nothing.
As for everyone else's response. I was hoping to get some original sprites for this mod. I can't sprite for shit, which is why I wanted to get someone talented to help me, but since you all want to be assholes to me, I guess I'll not bother with this thread anymore.

Nobody is perfect, skill takes time and practice. Hell, I wasn't that good at spriting myself when I joined the forums.

Don't expect to be a pro within the span of a week. Give it a month and you'll be happy with your progress.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Using GIMP for x amount of years doesn't automatically makes you an expert on every thing ever. Buuut whatever. You don't want to listen to the sympathy of experience. You just want free handouts.
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
For those of you who think I'm "Crying", complaining, trolling, etc, I'm just seeing if I can get someone to make some sprites for me. To end this argument, I would like to ask nobody else to respond unless you have sprites for me. I get that I should make my own sprites, but I really don't have a lot of time to learn how to make sprites. I have school, a doom project, a heretic mod to finish up, so I would appreciate it if someone could do me this favor.
I raged a few posts ago because you keep responding with the same crap "just learn how to make your own sprites". And at that point, I was pretty sick of it. Between the shit I get from this forum, and the shit I get from people in real life, I really don't want this forum ruined for me, since it's really the only place I feel safe at.

If that's the way you feel, maybe I shouldn't make any of my mods public, since they would be considered free handouts.Slax wrote:Using GIMP for x amount of years doesn't automatically makes you an expert on every thing ever. Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Are there anyone asking you in particular to make mods for them in particular? I think you made the mods you want to make, to the extent of your abilities, and likewise the spriters here make the sprites they want to make to the extent of their abilities.
Sometimes it happens that what you want to make does not correspond to what other people would like you to make.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Well, it sounds like you're looking for any ol' sprites so that's what you got pointed to. Things that already exist.
Beef up your resource request post with something inspiring if you want something else. "Draw me a spaceship thing" doesn't really do it.
