(WIP) Dark Twilight - Partial Conversion
For those of you who don't know what Twilight is, it is a monster replacement mod. All monsters are modified versions of beastiary monsters. After some consideration, I've decided that the mod needs some major changes before I can release it. I'm no beginner in decorate, but I know there are already people here better than me. I really don't want this to be just another 'replacement' wad, the stuff in here will be unique, but I may need some help. If all works out it will be a total conversion of all doom altogether... So what needs to be done you ask?
1. Weapon replacements- The player is a wizard (who will hopefully be able to level up to Master Sorcerer) so I'm looking for mage hands. Most if not all attacks will be through the player's own fingertips, and some spellbooks as well. The mod is 'gothic' (mainly because of the ghosts and ghouls, and the fact that the player is a wizard, who will use dar magic to smite his foes, for mow I'm looking for sprites, spellbooks and hands, preferably not stock (aka Hexen hands!)
2. Mana System- A little while ago I got into a mod named "Satanic". One interesting thing about it was that it had an interesting mana system, I don't want to copy that system, but something like the one in Satanic would do wonders for the mod.
3. SFX improvements- Even though the monsters are modified, it's mainly balance changes, some improvements that would make the monsters more original are kinda required. Eye candy and such is appreciated, also neat new attacks and effects are cool too. The monsters will probably end up being more powerful than the original counterparts.
4. Cool powerups- I would like to make the game more interesting with with some more...creative powerups than the usual. If you can dream it, hopefully you can make it, or at least help me make it.
Most of what you would see may end up getting changed. For now I just want to know if anyone experienced in decorate wouldn't mind making this a little easier for me is all.The screenshots below are the non-improved monsters. They are modified (if you can't tell), but they are not yet improved with better decorate, yet.
I have had some people join in on developing this project, and I will list the team members (so far) here, along with what they are currently working on (so you, the people of Zdoom.org, know what is going on) :
1. *Hunter_Killer* - Balancing out current monsters
2. GodSentDeath - Fixing XP system glitches
3. ProjectAngel - Monster Development
4. Twenty-Three - Monster contributions, SFX manager

I have all of the monsters replaced, and I'm reworking some of them. I'm trying to figure out how to get in the SFX, new abilities and whatnot that will make the monsters more unique and not just 'replacements'. I'm looking for a new name for the mod, this one is too... referential to the poorly written book franchise....
Progress:
- Replaced (again) both the Mancubus and Hectebus with better and not-so-overused monsters.
- Improved some monsters AI, mainly the new Mancubus, and a little on the Spectre
Things-to-be-done:
- Rework monster AI on various monsters, especially the Flesh Wizard (I always loved the sprites but hated the monster)
- Add new attacks to some respective monsters
- Add SFX to various game elements, and monsters
- Add any new monsters (hopefully), not from the beastiary, but custom made for this mod (contributions are appreciated, credit will be given in full
)

-Added one new Cacolantern variant, not a monster you ever want to run into...
-Added new special ability to Hell's Fury (name subject to change soon)

Next progress post will be a big one I can assure you.
For now I'm going to throw out a new idea/ambition, hopefully I can get some help and figure it out.
IDEA:
- The mana system will feature a 'leveling-up' type trait. Killing monsters and such will give you exp and unlock new abilities of your choosing, or upgrade current powers. I figure giving the mod an RPG-esque feel would help for replayablity and overall gameplay. Problem is I am currently unsure of how this is done, although I do know that it is possible.
