The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread

@WildWeasel/BlazingPhoenix:
Ahhh, I see. At least it's (sorta) refreshing that it's just random anger and not any one thing causing trouble---means it'll hopefully just blow over.

It does look like an ant doesn't it? I knew it looked familiar. It is not an ant, however.Captain J wrote:that's a nice sculpted ant head you got there...or what is it, then?Devianteist wrote:Decided to try out 3D Sculpting in Sculptris.Spoiler:
This is the head of a character from a story I've been working on for 5~ish years. His name is Kajt, an evil god who's appearance was distorted to reflect his evil nature.
Here is an older version of him, though this version does not have the same head, it has the same overall body as the new, final version; Older Version of Kajt.

Indeed. I pride myself with my creature designs, and evil gods or god-like creatures are generally a specialty of mine.Captain J wrote:ahh, now i see. it turns out he was mantis-like. and he sure does looks ungodly nasty...just like other dark gods does!

Why do I keep getting voicemails from wrong numbers? When the VM message is not who you think you're calling maybe you shouldn't leave personal information.

You can find them everywhere, sadly. I suspect a lot of them work for the USPS in the LA area, given how we've had at least two packages go missing for days, only to magically appear nearby after calling them to ask what's the deal.Project Dark Fox wrote:Well now I know where the greater clusters of stupid people live.
Also, got annoyed with how GZDoom now has to have its own INI. So I made a symlink to my ZDoom INI and bam, back to actually having settings/aliases synchronized like they used to be.

Because of the fact he kept begging weasel to make Nazis! BD compatable when he said several times he would not. ((I'm just hoping he will have learned his lesson once he comes back.))

That was completely taken out of context. In the original quote, it was implied we understood why the person got a ban.

Re: The New What Did You Last Do Thread
My CPU cooler arrived today, that was cool.
The package was completely fine and everything was there, and it was generally a pretty good ride.
Mounting the backplate was a pain in the ass, but I made it through so whatever.
Then I decided to do a test-mount just to figure out how to mount this thing right so that I could apply the thermal compound and put it on without fumbling around.
And that was when the fun started.
The two screws on the mounting platform (that you screw on top of the contact area) had to be perfectly aligned with the two screws on the mounting platform on the other (CPU side) of the backplate.
But what's that? The damn thing tilted should I dare screw one of the screws in, rendering the opposite screw utterly unscrewable - and believe me, I tried.
After an hour of very frustrating defeat and endless attempts at screwing that damn thing into place (I even succeeded in getting it affixed to the platform once, but then it magically unscrewed itself when I started tightening one of the screws.) I decided to see if it was due to me leaving the protective plastic on the surface area - which is there so that it doesn't get messed up and stays as clean as possible for maximum thermal efficiency - and lo and behold, this thing had more surprises in store for me.
It did not want to get off without a fight, and left quite a lot of glue islands on the contact area. Worth mentioning is that while this lighting makes it seem like it's all dented and shit (it's not), all those imperfections are actually little bits of glue stuck there after I went on a berserk scrubbing spree.
This is obviously not meant to happen. (Note how easily it slides off.)
If that wasn't enough, suddenly the top of one of the heatsink towers got loose. I tried to salvage it a bit, but after more unsuccessful attempts at mounting the piece of shit it eventually fell off for good, revealing why it got loose in the first place. (I highly doubt those top two thingies are supposed to be like that.)
It gets better!
Very soon after this when I got back to trying to mount it, I noticed that the very same screwdriver that I used to secure the mounting platform could no longer fit in between the two towers. This means that this platform is effectively stuck on the unit, since I have no way of unscrewing the screw that is holding it in place.
Why does it not fit, you may ask? Because this unit is completely failing on me.
Now it can't be mounted because I can't access any of the screws on the mounting platform, and it's also broken in terms of functionality since there is no way to get the second fan in between the towers as it is designed to be.
and i've been waiting for my new system (because my old desktop died, duh) to be operable for almost a month now
fuck my gay life
I haven't lost my hopes for this company, but I certainly hope that I can get a replacement that actually fucking works.
