2 more minor ones...

Post by Enjay »

1. The EndGameC cast call now plays a sound for the Doom marine, and also shows whichever skin you were playing with. However, the sound played always seems to be the male voice even if you have defined your own "gender" sounds for female and "other" and selected them in player setup. Makes my female looking skin sound a bit "butch" in the cast call. :)

2. I use the EndUnderwater Heretic Episode 2 ending with a few of my levels (in Doom2 games). This ending shows a picture with a different palette (E2PAL) and then shows the game title picture after reverting to the normal palette. If I use this ending, the first picture (with the altered palette) shows correctly, then returns to the normal palette (which is the altered palette I used in Marine Assault). On returning to the normal palette, things don't display correctly. It looks like the problem that was happening before with all levels and an altered palette and which (I assume) was fixed by

"- Fixed the COLORMAP fixer so that it works correctly for palettes where
an exact match for color 0 does not exist."

So, it seems the fix still needs to be applied when returning from the E2PAL to a normal (altered) PLAYPAL. Or possibly, I could fix my altered palette. The problem is, I can't see what's wrong with it. I looked at entry 0 in the palette and it seems to be exactly the same as entry 0 in the original palette - or am I missing something?

Ahhhh sorted out the palette problem - at least as far as my mod is concerned.

Palette entry 0 was 0 0 0 just like the original PLAYPAL but entry number 247 was 0 0 8 whereas the original seems to be a duplicate 0 0 0. When I changed my entry number 247 to also be a duplicate 0 0 0 the EndUnderwater ending was able to show the palette altered pic and then return to my palette without showing any visual problems. It means I lost a very dark blue colour from my palette, but I don't really think it is going to be noticable.

Maybe still something to fix from the engine side too though?
