fireblu2 being the culprit in this case. at least i think that's what's going on there.

adding to that, i managed to freeze the animation (of fireblu2) by using freeze mode. although that only seems to work on one of the frames...

That looks less like a bug and more like a thing that's not supposed to work.

Why shouldn't animated textures animate when warped? Some animated textures work well that way.

IIRC it is quite intentional that animated flats can be warped and remain animated too.

I think it was a mod by LilWhiteMouse that first used this (could be wrong) and it looked good. I remember it being discussed on the old board. I think there was a problem with it and Randy fixed it to ensure it would work. So, I assume the same goes for textures.

If you want a texture to warp, but not animate, make a copy of it and set the copy to warp.

The system intuitively not animating something sounds like it shouldn't work. Believe me, I'm completely pro animation-warp. I will not be among the protesters outside the warp clinic.

That is correct. To disable the animation of an already-animated texture, you can add something like this to ANIMDEFS:

Code: Select all

texture fireblu1
pic 1 tics 1
pic 1 tics 1

what about the second part? where you can freeze the animation? that certainly didn't seem normal since it only seems to freeze the fireblu2 animation...

Why doesn't it seem normal? Textures are animated by the play code (which is stopped when freeze mode is on). Warping textures are animated by the renderer, which is always running.
