This problem goes back many zdoom versions, but I only recently figured out exactly what the problem is.
Dehacked allows me to change weapon frames, and essentially switch weapons to different slots (place the rocket launcher in slot 4, the BFG in slot 6, etc.), but Zdoom alters the ammo use based on the weapon slot it's currently placed in.
For instance, if I move the rocket launcher and super shotgun into each other's slot, every time the rocket launcher fires I lose 2 rockets for one shot, and the super shotgun only uses up 1 shell. This creates major balance issues.
The reason why I'm switching weapon slots around is because of a TC I've been working on. All the weapons are modified in one way or another, and the way I have them currently set up works well except for this strange bug.
Can this be fixed?

It already has been, almost a year ago.Hyena wrote:Can this be fixed?
There are 2 new options in dehacked under Zdoom - Ammo use and min ammo. Use them in the section for your weapon to set the amount of ammo used up by each firing code pointer in the firing sequence, and how much ammo is needed in your inventory before the weapon can be fired.
Weapon 5 (Plasma Gun)
Ammo use = 10
min ammo = 10
The above amkes each plasma shot use 10 cells per shot, and prevents zdoom using the weapon with less than 10 cells in your inventory.
Using these options, you can force any weapon to use as much or as little ammo as you like, and set a value for how much ammo is needed before the weapon is usable (which needn't be the same value).

No, he's the other sort of hyena (the one with the big laugh).
And of course the final piece of the puzzle lies in dehacked itself, where you can change the ammo type used by the weapon.Enjay wrote:There are 2 new options in dehacked under Zdoom - Ammo use and min ammo.
