I'm still working on beta 29. Obviously "a day or two" was too optimistic. In the meantime, I updated the beta 28 zip available here to beta 28a. The only difference between the two is that beta 28a uses FMOD 3.33 and beta 28 used the initial release of FMOD 3.4. It seems to fix the vast majority of the crashes people were experiencing with beta 28. This version already existed in a somewhat unofficial status.
Beta 28a is binary only. If you want the source code, you can still get the original source for beta 28. The only relevant changes are in the sound code, and the newer version of FMOD 3.4 no longer exhibits these problems.
