Hello, I'm not very experienced in networking, but I'll try to help you out.
First, you need to decide which computer is gonna host: I recommend the fastest one. Then you need to set up your game on the hosting computer with the command line parameters ( If you're unfamiliar with the parameters, I recommend to look on the wiki) and add the parameter -host X where X is the number of machines who will participate in the game.

Now you have to let the other computers join. To do this you have to add -join (IP-adress of the hosting computer) in the command line.

I hope this helps.

And if you're not sure how to get your IP you should go to http://www.whatismyip.com

You could also use a launcher such as ZDL to make the process alot easier.

He gets a brain. Then he goes to a DOS prompt and types ipconfig.

If all of the computers in the game are on the same LAN, you don't have to use IP addresses, you can simply use the host computers "name" on the network. When you browse the network you can usually see the names of the networked computers.

So, if I want to host a game for two players (one host, one client), my command line is zdoom -host 2.

The client's command line is zdoom -join Mike (because my computer is identified as Mike on my LAN)

You can set your computer's identification (XP) in control panel, System, Computer name....

Though if you don't have any idea how your network is set up, it might not be a good idea to go in and make any changes to your computer's name; you could accidentally sever your internet connection.

"Mike"? You can do better than that! "Jimbotron" is mine. It's so... clever... and....... elegant..........

...

....... I think it is anyway........

Hostnames? I've got: Ferret, Hamster, Weasel, Rabbit, Gerbil, Mink, Ermine, MythTV and MiniMyth.
Those are just my desktops, laptops and servers... Then we have:
LTGraphics, TechnoMage, Dwarf, Squire, Ookami, Neko and Bob.

Yes, our electric bill is tremendous.
