Oversauturation slaughter map ( 90k monsters )

Post by crimson108 »

I’m running an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 2022 processor, an AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics card with 4GB of memory, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. I’m currently running the latest version of GZ Doom. My issue is that the game runs at nearly 4 to 1 frames per second, but it doesn’t max out my RAM, GPU, or CPU. Additionally, it doesn’t crash. I need help optimizing my game so that I can play it smoothly.

Usually dynamic lighting is the first thing to harm performance in slaughter maps.

This mod was explicitly made for such maps. tl;dr: it reduces the amount of CPU thrashing that a monster-heavy map does. It never eliminates it completely, but it can reduce it a lot, sometimes even making it playable.

Worth noting, however, that using it drastically alters the difficulty of the map, even when the option to increase monster aggression is selected (which is intended to compensate for the side effect difficulty reduction).
