The UZDoom soundfont licensing?

Post by ephrenial2008 »

I've been wanting to use a DOOM-esque soundfont for a feature in another game, and so I went looking for one and discovered that UZDoom uses a .sf2 file, exactly what I needed. Linked here: https://github.com/UZDoom/UZDoom/tree/trunk/soundfont

However, the project I wish to add the soundfont to has licensing requirements, making it important to verify the licenses of the code and media that go in. I could not find mention of the soundfont in the README, nor in the 3 commits on the license. However, one of them had a link to this forum post by Deemster https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=45600&f=9 , but there was no license there either and the links were dead. Someone thankfully reposted a working link to the .sf2 files in this thread https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=599227#p599227 but there's still no sign of a license.

I'm really wondering if Deemster (the creator) ever specified a license somewhere and if they didn't, how they might be found and asked permission. It seems like their Roland SC-55 Presets.sf2 (original name of uzdoom.sf2) is in the void licensing-wise.
