This is a companion mod specifically for Project Brutality. REQUIRES Project_Brutality_0.3.1_alpha in order to run.
The load order should look like this:

Brutality Buddies needs to be loaded *after* Project Brutality. An unmodified version of Project Brutality 0.3.1 alpha is required. Newer versions of Project Brutality might not be compatible with the mod.
What does the mod do?
I enjoy Doom companion mods, and I enjoy having AI teammates that pull their weight and actually do their job. This mod includes 23 AI teammates that will slowly and randomly leak into whatever level you are playing, and begin making a mess, in a good way.
These guys aren't pushovers. Some of them can solo Cyberdemons without breaking a sweat, so I recommend using this mod on Nightmare! difficulty, and even looking into an enemy number multiplier, like this one: viewtopic.php?t=65962
Depending on your PC specs, I strongly recommend cranking things like Max Spent Casings, and Maximum Wall Decals to their maximum, as these companions eject casings, drop magazines when they reload, and leave wall decals when they spray their weapons. It's cathartic seeing spent shells and casings everywhere after an engagement, most of which will not be your own.

"禿げ頭の"

Not much to say about this guy, other than that he's bald and wields a 12 gauge. He'll scream in Japanese, because his and most of the other voices in this mod come from Call of Duty games.
Credits: The first instance of my thievery. I stole him from a sprite sheet by Kominate found here: viewtopic.php?t=80641
"Santino"

This one has a chain gun.
Credits: This one was made through a combination of using this sprite sheet: https://i.imgur.com/g4sYuXw.png combined with the uber nailborg commando from here: viewtopic.php?t=76839 and here: viewtopic.php?t=15080&start=37755 stolen from Tsran908.
The grenade launcher was converted into a regular chain gun, and I did some work on the bright effect of the mask, to make it more in line with the lighting of the rest of the costume.
"Dimitri"

Fires and M1 Garand.
Credits: I straight up stole this character from the Doom Delta mod: https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-delta/d ... delta-v310 The original mod calls him 'dimitri' so he's "Dimitri."
"Fisher"

Yup, Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell. He does a very un-stealthy thing here and wields the equivalent of an AA-12 shotgun.
Credits: A couple parts of this are stolen (by me) from the Hell from Earth mod - https://www.moddb.com/mods/hell-from-ea ... ul-release The head, specifically, comes from the NakedShotgunner. The goggles come from Tacticool (Mein Gott Mein FPS).
"Broseph"

Another single chain gunner. He looks really, really cool, and the only edit I made was whitening his teeth.
Credits: Also stolen from the Hell from Earth mod. This NPC was called BeretExplosiveChaingunner in the mod files.
"Kassan"

One of two dual chaingunners who also happen to be brothers. Gemini says the name is linked to the Turkish word for "kettle/cauldron," and that was fitting to me, because he wears a green bowl for a helmet.
Credits: Stolen from a sprite sheet by Kominate from this page: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/7 ... /?page=220
"Hassan"

Brother of Kassan, and partner dual chain gunner. These guys can lay down a bullet stream like few else.
Credits: Stolen from another sprite sheet by Kominate from the same page as above.
"Leroy"

This ones a bit of a chimera, as he has a grenade launcher, *and* a chain gun, and he can fire either or, or both, at the same time. I again made sure the helmet lighting when he fired, matched the rest of the lighting. A few sprites needed aligning too, and now his attacks are seamless. He's one of the coolest, and most dangerous members on the team.

"Dudley"

Will scream in Captain Price's voice from one of the Modern Warfare games. Carries a generic assault rifle.
Credits: This one I stole from the Doom Friends Companions Mod - https://reactorcore.itch.io/doom-friends-companions-mod This NPC is called NPM1. Doom Friends being so *good* is one of my motivations for creating this mod.
"Duke"

Yup, it's Duke Nukem. Now, there is already an *amazing* Duke Nukem mod to be found here: viewtopic.php?t=74361 which I used as a partial foundation for this mod. Graphically, however, I felt the Duke Nukem 3D sprites looked more in the style of Doom64. I'm kind of particular about that sort of thing.
This Duke doesn't change weapons either... mostly, because the sprite only holds an assault rifle. But, the voice lines are crisp, and from Duke Nukem Forever.
Credits: Stolen from 150 Doomguy skins, from here: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/1 ... -download/ The sprite name is PAUL. Reminded me of Duke Nukem, so it became Duke Nukem.
"Ignacio"

The squad's flamethrower. This guy will turn the map into a blazing inferno. It will look like what the Fury does in MGS3. There's a lot of custom sprite work that needed to be done on this one, to make the NPC look "flamethrower-y," but I think it turned out okay. The lighting will flicker when he sprays fire, so his attack is animated to an extent.
Credits: Stolen from a sprite sheet made by horselessheadsman. It's from the same sheet and page as mentioned above.
"Doomguy"

Did you think *you* were Doomguy? No. No, this is Doomguy. Shirtless. Unarmed. He's just going to punch and rip his way through whatever he encounters, and even attempt to grab enemies and body-slam them.

One of the main problems with the unarmed Doomguy sprites I see everyone using, is often the elbow pads will disappear in certain frames, and appear in others. I did a bit of patching work to make sure that didn't happen here, and also fixed some missing pixels at various places.
Credits: Created from a sprite sheet credited to Mark Quinn, who made the unarmed sprites, with shirt removal/sundry sprite edits by Skelegant. Parts from DeeDeeOz's Under prepared Doomguy were also used, from this page: viewtopic.php?t=48340&start=555
"Jango"

Not much to say about this guy. He's got a gas mask, and he carries an assault rifle. I had to make sure the mask was lit like the rest of the body during shooting frames. The arms are not original to the NPC, I added them (but didn't create them) because I liked them better than the originals.
Credits: The arms were stolen from the Grand Shotgunner (K3) from the Hell from Earth mod. The head and body were stolen from this page: viewtopic.php?t=48340&start=555 It was a sprite sheet by Kominate.
"Yōta"

The team's grenadier (other than the *other* one). He both shoots *and* throws grenades, an absolutely devastating combination. During melee encounters, in between blows, he might even drop a grenade. I had to fix the mask a little, and give the shoot frames proper lighting. Screams in Japanese about grenades whether he's throwing them or not.
Credits: Created from a (stolen) sprite sheet credited to krokots, who made the Gas Grenadier frames, and TommyGalano5, who made the gas mask. Grenade launcher barrel taken (stolen) from a sprite sheet by Tsran908, here: viewtopic.php?t=15080&start=37755
"HUNKguy"

Another gas mask wearing dude, this time not sleeveless. He's not quite HUNK, and not quite Doomguy, and perhaps there's a kind of mediocrity in the middle there. Carries an assault rifle. I lit the mask, and placed it on a generic Doomguy body.
Credits: The head was stolen from the same sprite sheet by Kominate, mentioned above.
"Karl"

Just a shouting German man with an assault rifle. It's amusing, because Project Brutality has Nazis, and they stole their angry, German voice lines from the same Call of Duty game I stole mine from. I used the same sleeveless arms I used on Jango on Karl.
Credits: Karl was stolen from 150 Doomguy skins, from here: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/1 ... -download/ The sprite name was PSXD. The arms, as before, were stolen from the Grand Shotgunner (K3) from the Hell from Earth mod.
"Pete"

This one wields a pistol. I always *hated* the standard pistolguy sprites, because they fall into one of two categories: (1.) Doomguy is holding his non-gun arm in a funny position while walking. (2.) Doomguy's non-gun arm is just plain looks broken. Well, I'm pleased with how this one turned out. To me, this pistolguy sprite set looks good, no broken or crooked arms.
Don't expect him to have the same damage output as a grenadier or flamethrower, of course. All he has is a simple Glock. But he'll spray lead like everyone else. I added *two* firing frames, one straight and one with recoil, because I didn't like how the typical pistolguy only had one, recoil firing frame.
Credits: This one was stolen, and I don't even know who I stole it from. I'll start with what I do know, to make the shooting arms (without those accursed elbow pads) I patched with pieces stolen from DeeDeeOz's Under prepared Doomguy, mentioned above. I also stole and used parts from 150 Doomguy Skins, mentioned above, specifically skin PLA2.
Now, on to what I *don't* know. This **gorgeous** NPC would not have been possible, if it weren't for this sprite sheet:

I didn't make it, and I can't find where I got it from. I did multiple image searches, forum searches, I can't locate where I got this from. If anyone knows, or the creator sees this, let me know and I'll add your name.
"Aziz"

He'll be shouting in Arabic while taking names with his 12 guage. What more could you want?
Credits: This is where those sleeveless arms I mentioned above originally came from. He's stolen from the Hell from Earth mod, mentioned above. Also mentioned above, is that this NPC was named Grand Shotgunner (K3) in the mod files.
"Brock"

Can't have too many shotgunners, right? Another man with a another 12 gauge and nothing to prove. Shotguns in my mod do their job, and shred demons.
Credits: Stolen from an Unzombies Marines sprite sheet by Madonoom from this page: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/7 ... /?page=204
"Anderson"

Not much to say here, other than he's named after Gerry Anderson, the legend who made Thunderbirds. Other than that, he's another assault rifle.
Credits: I stole this guy from here: https://www.spriters-resource.com/media ... 1755472606
"MacReady"

It's Fake Plissken, with a 12 guage. He uses the Kiefer William Frederick Dempsey George Rufus Sutherland voice lines from CoD:WaW. Did you know Kiefer's name was that long? I didn't a few seconds ago.
Credits: Solidus Snake was stolen from 150 Doomguy skins, same as mentioned above. The sprite name was SNAK. The arms were, again, pilfered from the Grand Shotgunner (K3) from the Hell from Earth mod.
"Kobiashvili"

Double-shotgunner. Can fire the left barrel, the right barrel, or both, so, a bit of complexity to his shooting. His gun can make Cyberdemon's cry.
Credits: Yet another thing I stole from the Hell from Earth mod, mentioned plenty above. This NPC was called SSGDude (Drug Dealer) in the mod files.
"Nadia"

Woman with an assault rifle who sometimes screams in Russian.
Credits: Stolen from the Doom Friends Companions Mod I mentioned above. This NPC is called NPM2 in the mod.
Other Credits:
This mod would not have been possible without the Duke Nukem Companion Mod I mentioned above, as well as the Doomguy Companion [Companion Mod template], which can be found here: viewtopic.php?t=74523
Roughly 95% of the coding for my mod was done by Google Gemini (with extensive testing by me). I can't code Zscript, and its help was invaluable. Gemini also made the Brutality Buddies graphic up top. If the internal code looks like crap, with junk bits connected to nothing, that's all *my fault*. Best not to touch things if they're working, right?
The makers of Project Brutality. This mod would not have been possible without Project Brutality. It's one of the best mods for Doom, period. The gore, the casing ejections, this mod (and Doom) would not have been anywhere near as satisfying without Project Brutality.
Also, I sincerely hope you enjoy the mod.
