2 issues with UZDoom, music randomizers and text scaling

Post by roundtree »

Hello,

UZDoom is working excellent for the most part, but honestly I've only tested on Android so far. I have found 2 possible issues, but I can't say for sure that they are bugs.

1) I have not been able to get the text scaling for the menu text to work so far to make the text larger (this is crucial on android for the small screens). The menu text seems to stay the same size no matter what the scaling options are set to.

2) Music packs that have a randomization function no longer are able to randomize. The first song does play just fine, but hitting the "next song" key always just starts the first song over but never switches to a new song. This problem is not particular to any music pack. It seems to affect them all. But its such a serious thing to me, I've gone back to strictly using GZDoom for now until this issue can be resolved.

I just wanted to bring these 2 issues to your attention, and maybe other people can test them as well. Could not post these in "bug reports" yet as I'm not sure they are actually bugs. Right now, I've only tested UZDoom on the current version of Delta Touch on Android 12 on Galaxy S10+ (yes my phone is old).

1) I think menu rewrites were in the works, making android-friendly text scaling would not be far-fetched if this were to be completed. Posting this as a separate issue so it's on the radar as the rewrites are being completed would definitely be helpful to you, and other Android users - most of the time devs typically use PC's, not phones. I don't think there's much that can be done with the current menu system, though.

2) This is definitely a bug that needs to be reported. If randomization is not working there might be an issue with the code generator. The exact make and model of your phone is relevant in this case; especially for knowing what kind of processor it is using. Obviously it goes without saying, please post a link to your randomizer too.
