Keyboard key not working on Ubuntu

Recently I switched from Windows to Ubuntu and now found out that GZDoom doesn't react to some of the keys on my Finnish keyboard. This wasn't a problem with GZDoom for Windows, nor is it a problem for DSDA-Doom for Ubuntu.
Finnish keyboard layout
In particular this regards the key <, between LSHIFT and Z, which has scancode 56, or virtual key OEM 102. GZDoom also doesn't react to the keys å, ö, ä, and §, which have scancodes 1A, 27, 28, and 29 resp. (OEM: 6, 3, 7, and 5).
Adding "<=+use" in gzdoom.ini doesn't work. If I do that and I go to the key bindings in the menu, it still shows that nothing is bound to the 'use' action.
In the console, I do see '<' when I press that button.
Does anyone know a trick for how I can use '<' for +use anyway? And if not, is this a solvable bug?
GZDoom: v4.14.2
OS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
