Edit: While this initial post deals with "Supplice", later posts deal with KDiZD and Venturous which I believe show the same crash. I have also tracked the crashes down to just starting with the currently most recent Git build (20th Sept) and they do not happen with the build from the day before (19th Sept). Details of version numbers and crash reports from KDiZD and Venturous are included in subsequent posts.
Sorry for the post spammage. I was just reporting things as I found them.
Original Post:
A friend and I were just messing around with Supplice and we decided to try the latest GZDoom Git build with it instead of the bundled exe.
However, it kept crashing. Doing exactly the same things with the most recent official release build did not cause the crashes.
The crashes usually seemed to happen when going from map to map, but they also happened in the test map when simply entering some of the test rooms.
The copies of Supplice belong to my friend and I'm not sure which versions he has because he got them from Steam. I don't have Steam, so I can't get copies for myself, but he has at least a version with an ipk3 called "supplice_demo.ipk3" and a newer one just called "supplice.ipk3". Crashes were frequent with both. I *think* he may have had a third copy. I'm not sure. The one that is just called "supplice.ipk3" has several maps, including one called Test01. "Supplice_demo.ipk3" only has two maps (map01 and map02).
Here is a crash report that was caused by loading the game with supplice_demo.ipk3 as the main game file, starting a game (map01) and then typing map map02 at the console.
http://www.aspectsweb.co.uk/enjay//doom ... pplice.zip
However, completing maps, using the console commands, teleporting to certain test rooms etc. could all cause crashes in any of the versions of the game that he has.
It's also not a problem with map02. Adding +map map02 to the command line allows you to start a game on map02 and play the map. However, if you type map map01 at the console while on map02, you get a crash.
(In fact, starting a game normally on map01 and then typing map map01 also causes a crash. So maybe it's a map transition thing - but, like I said, we also got the problem when teleporting to new rooms on the test map of the "supplice.ipk3" version.)
These crashes did not happen at all when we tried the same things with GZDoom 4.14.2.
I realise that this isn't meant to be the way to play Supplice, but if the Git build is crashing but 4.14.2 isn't, then it perhaps indicates that something is wrong with the newer builds?
I don't have the Supplice files myself, but I can get the demo IPK3 and send it confidentially if it is needed and if that is considered acceptable.

Actually, maybe no need to mess around with Supplice IPK3s.
I just loaded up KDiZD, started z1m1 and typed map z1m2 at the console and got a crash.

I'm guessing it's the same thing:

Maybe the same thing? Simply trying to start a game of Venturous causes a crash:
http://www.aspectsweb.co.uk/enjay//doom ... turous.zip
I can hear the map music starting (as I can with the other crashes) and then I just get dumped to the desktop.
I tried starting a game from the menu, and by warping directly to the first map from the command line. Both caused a crash. Again, it works with 4.14.2.

Re: Crash with Several Big Projects and gzdoom-x64-g4.15pre-566-g65cfb976f
And checking various Git builds and bisecting what was available, after several tries, the difference only happened with the most recent build.
gzdoom-x64-g4.15pre-561-gd0aa5813e.7z from 19th September does not crash with KDiZD or Venturous (I can't test Supplice)
gzdoom-x64-g4.15pre-566-g65cfb976f.7z from 20th September crashes with both (easily repeatable for me).
[Edit: I just messaged my friend and he tried the Git build from the 19th. All the things that caused a crash with the Supplice versions that he has and the Git build from the 20th did not cause a crash when run with the build from the 19th. So, it seems as if some change between yesterday (19th) and today (20th) has caused a problem.]

I can't test Supplice right now, but KDiZD and other mods that were crashing yesterday are able to transition to new maps without crashing with today's build (gzdoom-x64-g4.15pre-569-gdadfade12). So, it does indeed seem to be fixed. Thank you.

Then thank you marcus, and thanks to the messenger too.
And I've had a WhatsApp that (not surprisingly) Supplice is fine too.
