Tested on 4.14, pretty sure it was a problem on 4.13 as well, and probably beyond.

Just start on any map.
There are two visually identical fonts defined: GOODFONT and BADFONT. The former has 0 kerning in Font.inf while for the latter it's -1. Note that it doesn't matter if it's a negative or positive number; it only changes the direction the text is shifted in. It gets worse the more whitespaces are added.
