weapon sprite scaling

Post by Cyrez »

with all the new things zdoom can do with decorate, this is a logical addition i think. example, you build i nice highrez custom hud, build a realy detailed level, hirez textures and flats, now we build up a nice weapon and load it in and yuck, that just degraded your wad by half

scaled weapon pickup sprites look sharp but the actual weapons are distorted and pixlized.

just a sugestion but i think it would add alot to the engin 8-)

Is it really that much effort to complete words and use the full phrase Hi-Res? Agh, I may as well be spamming. [/offtopic]. I haven't really found any weapons sprites that could do with scaling. Even sprites from other games seem to look okay.

Yeah, but it would still be a good feature, if anyone ever wanted to do some insanely detailed weapon. ;) I'm imagining haloguns2.wad with 800x600 sprites...pretty...

Fun fact: Redneck Rampage's weapon sprites were all designed for 640x480 - this, combined with true-color (via GZDoom) would allow one to use RR's weapons without degrading their quality at all.

I myself prefer to model my weapons in 3DS Max, then sprite from the renderings that are 800x600 so adding this option would make the weapons look very nice ingame

AFAIK all of Redneck Rampage was designed for hi-res. Setup.exe said that when I tried setting the resolution to 320x240.

That it had already been mentioned. That's all.

EDIT: Forgot to mention at who that message was posted.
