If possible, it would be nice to update this to something a little more functional. I'm sure it's discouraging to newbies to have someone tell them "search the forum" and then they get 175 pages of results. It discourages me too.

[Forum Suggestion] Better Search Feature
Is anyone else frustrated with the huge amounts of unrelated pages that the search function returns, and the inability to use operators or modifiers like quotes and booleans? Also, adding more words widens the search, instead of narrowing it. Counter-intuitive.

There is a radio button for "search for all terms" versus "search for any terms". Seems to work for me anyway.Caligari_87 wrote:Also, adding more words widens the search, instead of narrowing it. Counter-intuitive.

I agree. I think it's a better default - because I can't imagine how useful the other way is for most people that only want to look up one specific thing.Sticky wrote:My personal gripe with the search is the default radio button on "Search for any terms or use query as entered." On many of the other forums I visit, "Search for all terms" is the deafult search mode, which I think is more desireable most of the time; i.e. makes a better default.
