Cruelty Squad is a game. This mod aims to emulate the general gameplay and progression of Cruelty Squad in Doom.

I will be trying this out ASAP.

Post-game edit: Honestly this is just perfect. I simply love how you made this all work.
The only gripes that I could find are:
How the revolver animates. (The hammer should start up, then slowly go down as you pull the trigger before slamming back to fire)
The life sensor goggles augment not working through walls.
And the weapons still following the Doom slot scheme instead of having a dynamic one like in CruS.
All in all, wonderful work!

never got around to playing Cruelty Squad for myself but this is pretty n i c e.
if you want the same level of visual madness Cruelty Squad has, I'd recommend running Colorful Maps alongside it for the randomized textures and lighting.

Glad you enjoyed it! I'll release an update soon fixing the revolver animation and adding the spin to the ammo face in the HUD. Not too sure how to tackle the life sensor showing through walls but I'll try to figure it out, which is why I went for it showing headshot hitboxes instead. I have kinda mixed feelings about having a dynamic weapon slot system, while it would make a lot more sense I'm so used to slot 5 being the rocket launcher, heh.

(also when i saw the word emulate, it made me download it and review it)
The Only things not expected:
You explode when you have lower than 10 health points
But still:
the results in is that this mod is not bad (and good) :)
If i could rate it in 1 out of 10 rating then it would be:

No smoking GPU?
Then add RELIGHTING.PK3 and set the reflection slider to 100% and add FX ENHANCEMENTS 2.x

It can be good to have some kind of "pre-start" equipment selection with all weapons and augmentations that were successfully moved to the exit from the map by alive player.
Like... Unlockable system where player can have variety of stuff, but for unlock itself they may need to complete map with it on hands and w/o dying.

this mod is great, but I noticed the flicking to reload is a lot less reliable than in CruS.
